THE POSITION

The Department of Corrections (DOC), State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Cambridge Springs is seeking a dedicated Corrections Maintenance Foreman. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Corrections Maintenance Foreman, you will oversee inmate work crews as they undertake routine assignments such as lawn care, snow removal, janitorial duties, and general maintenance. You will plan and assign daily inmate schedules, inspect completed work assignments, and provide instruction in the operation and preventative maintenance of machinery and vehicles. You will also assist other maintenance staff in the performance of semi-skilled and skilled journey work in trades such as carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical, refrigeration, masonry, steam-fitting, and welding. This role requires strong leadership and communication skills to ensure adherence to performance standards. In addition, you will inventory materials and tools used to complete work assignments, submit purchase requests, and exercise care, custody, and control over inmates at all times.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment 40 hours per week
  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday.
  • This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $47,925.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Four years of experience performing building maintenance, construction, or general trades work; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirements:

  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
