Department OverviewThe Missions & Insights team builds the platforms that power real-time public safety operations. We are currently undergoing a transformation to become an AI-first product organization. We are not just building AI into our products; we are leveraging AI to fundamentally change how we build, operate, and deliver value. Job Description

We are seeking a high-impact AI Strategy & Business Operations Consultant to serve as a strategic right hand to the VP and Senior Directors of Command Center Product.

In this role, you will act as a bridge between high-level business strategy and technical execution. You will not just document processes; you will re-architect them for an AI-native future. Your mandate is to identify high-leverage opportunities where AI automation (Agents, LLMs, Predictive Ops) can fundamentally accelerate our product velocity and operational efficiency.

You will bring a "consulting toolkit"-structured problem solving, executive communication, and data-driven analysis-combined with a technical passion for Generative AI and automation.

You will lead the charge in identifying, documenting, and implementing automation opportunities across our AI operational landscape. You will act as the key analyst and product owner for internal automation projects, focused on increasing velocity and reducing manual toil for our engineering and operations teams.

You will map current-state processes, define the requirements for "Gems" (internal automation tools/scripts), and collaborate with engineering teams to ensure these solutions are built, tested, and adopted, directly contributing to the maturity of our AI operations.

What You'll Do

1. Strategic Planning & Operating Model Design

  • Partner with the VP and Sr. Directors to define the "AI-First" operating model for the product and engineering organization.

  • Lead the annual and quarterly planning cycles (OKRs), ensuring that AI automation initiatives are aligned with broader business goals.

  • Conduct "Build vs. Buy vs. Automate" analyses to guide executive decision-making on tooling and resource allocation.

2. AI Automation & Process Transformation

  • Audit the end-to-end Product Development Lifecycle (PDLC) to identify friction points that can be solved through AI automation.

  • Lead the strategy and pilot execution of internal "AI Agents" (formerly "Gems")-from automated code reviews and QA generation to AI-assisted product requirements writing.

  • Move beyond simple scripting; design complex, human-in-the-loop workflows that allow our teams to scale without adding headcount.

3. Execution & Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Act as the "Chief of Staff" for technical initiatives, driving cross-functional alignment between Engineering, DevOps, and Product Management.

  • Translate ambiguous operational challenges into concrete project plans and oversee their execution to completion.

  • Drive change management and adoption of new AI tools, ensuring that automation actually results in time saved and value created.

4. Performance Measurement & Insights

  • Define and track the KPIs that matter. Move beyond basic uptime metrics to measure "Engineering Velocity," "AI Impact on Margins," and "Operational Toil Reduction."

  • Prepare executive-level presentations (QBRs, Board Decks) that articulate the ROI of our AI strategy to senior leadership.

Who You Are

  • The Strategy Consultant Profile: You have experience in management consulting (Strategy & Ops), BizOps, or an internal strategy role at a tech company. You excel at structured thinking and can break down complex, ambiguous problems into solvable components.

  • The Technical Operator: You are not just a slide-maker. You have a deep understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC), CI/CD, and the current capabilities (and limitations) of Generative AI and LLMs.

  • The Translator: You are bilingual in business and technology. You can discuss API latency with engineers one minute and present a strategic roadmap to the VP the next.

  • The Automator: You have a bias for action. You look at a manual spreadsheet or a repetitive meeting and immediately think, "How can I use AI to eliminate this?"

What Sets You Apart

  • Hands-on AI Experience: You have personally built or prototyped an AI workflow (e.g., using Zapier, LangChain, or custom Python scripts) to solve a real-world problem.

  • Product Sense: You understand the nuances of Product Management and can empathize with the pain points of Product Directors.

  • Grit: You are comfortable working in a large organization and know how to navigate bureaucracy to get things done.

Target Base Salary Range: $100,000 - $120,000 USD
Consistent with Motorola Solutions values and applicable law, we provide the following information to promote pay transparency and equity. Pay within this range varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The actual offer will be based on the individual candidate.
