Job Description

Maintenance Technician III (Process Technician)

Job Responsibilities

  • Participate during mold changes; specifically, oven setup and identification of maintenance issues that will affect process
  • Develop Best in Class (BIC) processes and establish process parameters for production bottles
    • Includes existing and new tooling
    • Optimize process parameters based on container performance
    • Ensures BICs are saved in FMS, then posted at the line for operators to reference during production
    • Updates BICs in FMS when a production bottle process changes and requires replication / repeatability
    • Perform daily audits on BIC process sheets and follow up on changes. Verify daily operator BIC sheets
    • Ensure blank BICs are posted on the production lines for operators to use during process changes
    • Produce sample containers to provide the quality team and maintenance team
  • Produce sample containers to provide the quality team and maintenance team
  • Work with Quality Team to measure containers in order to confirm physical characteristics and establish performance capabilities
  • Review test data and compare it with the Tentative Performance Specifications.
    • Complete Process portion of the SOP-0025
      • Final report includes: Process Set-up Sheets and recommended Process Control Parameters.
  • Recommend design modifications and process improvements if required to meet the Tentative Performance Specifications
  • Assist other Amcor plants with start-up and validation of new product specifications, as needed
  • Work with Maintenance team members, Maintenance Manager and Sr. Operations Manager, to order parts, schedule and complete preventive maintenance (PM) items related to process control on each blow molder
    • Assists production and quality in solving recurring defects caused by improper profiles
  • Develops and maintains progressive training in blow molding theory and application; identifies, plans, and conducts or coordinates technical training for plant employees (GMP, SOPs, WIs, FCDs, machine operations, processing, lockout/tagout, or forklift/man lift operations)
  • Performs all other tasks as directed
  • Must own general mechanics tools.
  • Must have good leadership and communication skills. Lead by example.

Other Requirements:

  • Must be safety conscious and observe all safety rules for lock-out/tag-out procedure, electrical code safe practices, and confined space entry programs.
    • Must follow all safety practices. Possess ability to instruct other maintenance staff and production operators in safe operation of equipment.
    • Must wear safety equipment, personal protective equipment, as required in the area or to perform specific job duties.
  • Must be willing to remain on an assignment until it is completed or until released by the Supervisor.
  • Must be thoroughly familiar with hand tools and maintenance practices.
  • Must be experienced in functioning of hydraulics and pneumatic circuits.
    • Troubleshoots hydraulic and pneumatic circuits with the aid of schematics.
  • Repair basic electric circuits with complete understanding of electrical schematic diagrams.
  • Must be willing to respond to emergency mechanical issues that require technical assistance beyond level 2 maintenance requirements.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED
  • 5+ years experience in PET manufacturing
  • Strong machine/mechanical knowledge
  • Working knowledge of PET carbonated and non-carbonated containers
  • Working knowledge of practical experience with quality product specifications and controls methods
  • Ability to work independently, solve problems, make decisions and resolve conflicts

Pay Range: $42.55 - $46.50

Physical & Minimum Requirements

  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and different shifts; including call-ins and weekends as needed to support production changeovers and startups
    • Willingly accept any other duties/changes to position to fit the needs for production as requested by Sr. Operations Manager or designee.
  • Must be able to stand and walk on concrete floors for extended periods of time. Breaks will be the only time you will have an opportunity to sit.
  • Perform all good housekeeping assignments.
  • Must be able to lift, bend and twist repetitively during the shift.
  • Must be able to coordinate movements quickly and accurately in a high output production area.
  • Must demonstrate ability though previous work assignments to work effectively in a fast-paced high-quality manufacturing environment.
  • Able to help organize and maintain maintenance areas and stock room.
