This position is an on-site role based in one of our locations within the DFW, Little Rock, or Memphis metroplexes.

Job Summary

The SBCP Business Coach provides strategic guidance, mentorship, and support to entrepreneurs and micro business owners to help them start, grow, and sustain their businesses. This role involves one-on-one coaching, group training, and resource navigation to empower clients with the tools and knowledge needed for long-term success.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for MBEP cohort participants, providing tailored business coaching resulting in resilient, scalable, and sustainable micro businesses.
  • Develop and deliver business curriculum, including group and 1:1 mentorship sessions, including quarterly business assessments at 3, 6, 9, and 12 months.
  • Guide participants through Southern's depository and loan requirements, loan package assistance, account management, and repayment plans.
  • Conduct pre-loan eligibility assessments per SBA Microlending standards
  • Provide technical assistance, including but not limited to: business strategy, operational planning support, financial management guidance, marketing and customer acquisition strategies
  • Track and report KPIs to include but not limited to job creation/retention, revenue growth, capital access, operational improvements, and participant satisfaction.
  • Maintain CRM dashboards, scheduling tools, and survey platforms for participant engagement and program tracking.
  • Collaborate with local SBA offices, Business Chambers, SCORE mentors, economic development partners and other related referral partners and center of influences to foster a strong business ecosystem for program referral opportunities.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics, entrepreneurship, or related area
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in business financial coaching, micro-enterprise development or small business consulting
  • Experience working with underserved and un(der) banked communities
  • Familiarity with local economic development initiatives and small business support ecosystems, SBA loan programs preferred
  • Bilingual proficiency preferred
  • Experience working with nonprofit lenders and/or CDFIs
  • Strong communication, organizational, facilitation, instructional delivery, presentation and relationship-building and management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple participants and cohorts simultaneously

Physical/Sensory Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the individual is:

  • Regularly required to sit, talk, and hear; reach with hands and arms; and occasionally stand and walk, stoop, kneel or crouch
  • May be required to lift or move up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Regular required to use computers, telephone, and other standard office equipment
