The Rutgers Food Innovation Center ( FIC) - South is a unique business incubation and economic development accelerator program, which provides business and technology expertise to small and mid-sized food and agribusinesses in New Jersey and utilizes its outreach capacity to reach the food industry throughout the nation. The FIC provides extensive programs in training and workforce development; customized and comprehensive business and technical mentoring services; and a 23,000-sq. ft. USDA- and FDA-inspected facility that enables design, development, analysis, commercialization, and manufacture of value-added food products for sale to retail and foodservice markets.
Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking an Administrative Assistant for the Rutgers Food Innovation Center ( FIC) - South. This position reports to the Executive Director of the Food Innovation Center ( FIC), with direct report to the Business Manager and will be physically based at its Bridgeton NJ (Cumberland). The primary role of the Administrative Assistant is to provide the day-to-day administrative and financial support to the Food Innovation Centers - Bridgeton and New Brunswick. The position will be resident at the FIC facility in Bridgeton, NJ, but will liaise with other University units as needed.

Among the key duties of the position are the following:

  • Provides administrative and financial support at two different locations -FIC Bridgeton and Mass Spectrometry Lab (SEBS Campus) and assists with Eco Complex location as requested by senior management.
  • Handles cash and credit transactions, financial data recording, journal reconciliation, facility events, payroll and inventory.
  • Manages the Center's purchases and accounting system using appropriate University procedures.

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience and a minimum of two years' relevant experience in administrative function, good communication skills, and computer literacy.
