Position: General Setup Operator - Assembly/Spotweld
Shift : 7 :00am to 3:30pm, M-F
Wage: $19-$20.00/hour
JOB SUMMARY:
The General Set-Up & Operator (Flex 1) is responsible for performing routine and complex setup and operation of assembly, spot welding, and related manufacturing equipment. This role works closely with technicians and group leaders to follow work instructions, support production requirements, and develop advanced technical skills. The position involves cross-training on additional departmental equipment and processes to build multiple operator competencies, demonstrating the ability to train in at least one functional area, and preparing for advancement to the technician level.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
  • Maintain safe work environment (i.e., use of personal protective equipment, proper lifting techniques, etc.).
  • Has some knowledge and inspection practice to ensure conformance to quality specifications.
  • Inform management or lead of any part or equipment defects to ensure prompt response to the problem.
  • Start up and stop equipment.
  • Knowledge of the tools, instrumentation, and calibration equipment.
  • Clean production area (sweep, mop, and remove debris).
  • Load and unload items from machines, carts, and dollies.
  • Feed or place items onto equipment for processing.
  • Ensure conformance to specifications.
  • Mark parts for identification.
  • Place equipment on conveyor belt for further processing.
  • Scrape waste material from machine.
  • Understanding of gauges.
  • Record data.
  • Use Epicor ERP to log into and out of jobs.
  • Take instructions from management and lead person.
  • Conserve resources and supplies to facilitate minimum waste.
  • Work from routings, manufacturing instruction sheets, blueprints, visual aids, or other instructions to manufacture product at required quality levels.
  • Assemble components accurately, thoroughly, and quickly to approved specifications.
  • Assist in training new employees.
  • Recommend and select proper tooling for required tasks, as well as recommend productive process changes.
  • Can work with minimal supervision.
  • Able to set up some projects.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • A high school diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • 1-2 years previous Assembly experience.
  • Prior experience with power and hand tools.
  • Previous spot welding experience preferred.
  • Basic math skills
  • Excellent communication skills required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to lift, carry, push, pull, grip, and grasp up to 35 lbs. Employees also frequently bend, twist, and reach and may stand and/or walk up to 8-10 hours per day.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high. Job consists of working in a manufacturing facility. Job could consist of making changes by hand or by running machinery equipment. Will receive objects or parts on conveyer belt, be responsible for your portion of the job, and then pass materials down conveyer belt or to next worker.
