National Grid is hiring an Analyst, US Pension Delivery. This hybrid role can sit in either our Northborough MA, Waltham MA or Brooklyn NY location.

Job Purpose

This role will report directly to the Director of US Pension Delivery and will focus on providing analytical support to the end-to-end cycle of the Company's benefit offerings, including pension and retiree welfare plans. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills, a curious mind and eye for detail, and the ability to translate complex data into actionable recommendations.

Key Accountabilities
  • Gather and validate data from various internal and external sources to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Responsible for analyzing and interpreting large data sets to inform business decision-making and presenting to both technical and non-technical stakeholders across the organization.
  • Collaborate with various pension cross-functional stakeholders to ensure processes supporting the actuarial valuation of pension and retiree welfare liabilities are appropriate and effective.
  • Summarize and analyze pension and retiree welfare results and forecasts in a meaningful way, including working with the actuaries to understand results.
  • Prepare executive level presentation materials, visualizations, and papers regarding relevant pension and retiree welfare plans.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, with a proactive approach to stakeholder engagement.
  • Continuously monitor, track, and refine analytics to enhance their accuracy and relevance over time.
  • Assist with quarterly meeting material and minutes for various pension and retiree welfare governance committees.
  • Project management: Assist or lead on various pension, retiree welfare, or governance related projects.
  • Working with a variety of third-party benefits vendors and internal contacts to ensure our programs are running as intended and in accordance with US Regulatory structure and requirements.
  • Participating in ad hoc special projects, as needed, including plan design analysis, process improvement initiatives, and mergers/acquisitions due diligence.
Qualifications
  • Understands National Grid's extensive divestiture and acquisition history.
  • Experience with finance and/or accounting concepts.
  • Knowledge of legislation and rules governing Retirement Plans in the US, including defined benefit pension plans and retiree welfare plans.
  • Considerable project management skills and ability to work within tight deadlines.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, critical thinking and strategic skills.
  • Demonstrates ability to apply and modify learned concepts appropriately, including executing process improvements where needed.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentations to various stakeholders.
  • Demonstrates ability to interpret information and analyze relationships among several parts of a problem or situation, in order to clearly articulate the findings and anticipate next steps
  • Strong organizational skills; ability to multi-task with attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to build relationships at all levels within the organization.
  • Very strong hands-on knowledge of standard office productivity tools, especially MS Excel (MS Office components, SAP, etc.).
  • This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Math, Actuarial Science, Finance, Accounting, or a related field and a minimum of 5 years of related experience in an applicable field.

Salary

Downstate NY $84,000 - $99,000 a year

New England MA $78,000 - $92,000 a year
