The Marine Services Business Unit is seeking a Marine Geophysicist in Santa Clarita, CA.

As a Geophysical Technician, your day could start aboard a survey vessel, preparing sonar and seismic equipment for deployment. You'll collect and analyze hydrographic and geophysical data, making real-time decisions to adapt to changing sea conditions. Communication is key-you'll keep project leads informed, interact with clients, and ensure data quality throughout the process. Extended assignments and sea duty are part of the role, offering opportunities to work on cutting-edge projects that shape our understanding of the marine environment.

What You'll Do Key Responsibilities:
  • Executing and supporting project tasks for marine surveys and data collection.
  • Interacting with clients and contributing to business development activities.
  • Performing field operations, including extended sea duty assignments.
  • Ensuring equipment readiness and data quality under challenging conditions.
What You Bring Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum 10+ years of professional experience supporting marine geophysical and/or hydrographic survey projects.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with marine geophysical survey equipment, data acquisition, and quality control in offshore and nearshore environments.
  • Proven ability to execute field operations, including equipment setup, calibration, troubleshooting, and maintenance during marine surveys.
  • Experience working on extended field assignments and performing sea duty under varying environmental conditions.
  • Strong working knowledge of marine positioning, navigation systems, and survey software used in geophysical data collection.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with project managers, field crews, and clients to ensure project success and data integrity.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Small vessel operator familiar with USCG regulations, vessel inspections and maintenance.
  • Ability to travel extensively and meet physical requirements for sea duty.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and technical expertise in marine geophysics.
  • Excellent communication and client interaction skills.
