What to Expect
The Failure Analysis Team's mission is todetermineroot causeand contributing factors to improve the experience of Tesla's products by reducing fieldissues,in collaboration witha largecommunityof other engineering teams. Engineers andtechnicians on the teamare responsible fora wide variety of vehicle and energy product systems for existing models and models in development. This extremely high visibility individual contributor role requires extensive hands-on work focused onelectromechanicalfailure analysis and root cause activities. We areseekingan enthusiastic,highly experienced seniortechnician whofinds enjoyment in understanding how things work and how wecan correct and prevent issues from occurring. Theywillbe responsible for assistancewith diagnosing electromechanical concerns. A successful candidate will need to become intimately familiar with various analysis techniques involving non-destructive and destructive techniques. Examples of those include capturing and understanding 2D X-ray data, mechanical sample preparation,assembly tear down, cross sectioning, basic electrical debug using a multimeter, and documentation of regions of intereston failed samples.They will work alongside experienced engineers whileutilizingsophisticated failure analysis tools toidentifyfailure mechanismsobservedin engineering, production, and field environments.
