What to Expect

The Failure Analysis Team's mission is todetermineroot cause&contributing factors to improve the experience of Tesla's products by reducing field issues; in collaboration withalarge cross-section of other engineering teams. Engineers&Technicians on the teamare responsible fora wide variety of vehicle&energy product systems for existing models and modelsin development. This is a high visibility individual contributor role that includes extensive hands-on work focused on failure analysis&rootcause activities.

We are seeking an experienced engineering technician who will support all aspects of identifying&characterizing failureson our low voltageelectronics. The successful candidate will work directly with other Failure Analysis Engineers to perform debug, rework,&root cause analysis on infotainment systems, low voltage controllers,&autopilot electronics.

The successful candidate will be experienced working in a supporting role in an electrical development lab. They will need to be intimately familiar with the use of all common electrical test&measurement equipment. The candidate will need to perform rework&measurement on PCBAs usingextremely small components. As such they will need to have excellent fine motorskills&soldering skills on SMDcomponents. What You'll Do
  • Debug complex analog&digital electrical systems

  • Support root cause analysis from issue identification to countermeasure implementation

  • Use analytical tools&techniques including Functional Testing, Electrical Debug, X-Ray, Thermography,&others

  • Execute experiments to test theories about failure cause

  • Rework fine pitch electronics&PCBAs


What You'll Bring
  • 1+ Years of industry experience or demonstrable experiencedebugging&reworking complex electrical circuits

  • Extensive experience working with tools such as Power Supplies, Oscilloscopes, Curve Tracer, Function Generator, etc.

  • Extremely proficient at soldering&reworkon complex boards&SMT components

  • Proficientatreading schematics&debugging analog&digital circuitry

  • Experience with common digital communication protocols (I2C, CAN,etc.)

  • Experience with common failure analysis techniques&methods preferred

  • Experience with power electronics is a plus

    Expected Compensation
    $24.40 - $56.40/hour + cash and stock awards + benefits

    Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
