JOB SUMMARY

The Service Center Manager is responsible for responsible for supervising department operations.

Essential Functions:

  • Prepare and process samples, and collect information about the composition of substances to support the analytical testing needs of clients, for such purposes as quantitative analysis, and product development.
  • Follow established SOP's and adhere to state, federal and other accrediting body requirements.
  • Perform equipment and instrumentation maintenance.
  • Maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure operational performance, analyze data to identify trends or areas for improvement, and report findings to management.
  • Assist in the development and monitoring of departmental budgets, identifying cost-saving opportunities and implementing cost-control measures as necessary.
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency improvements, implementing strategies to streamline workflows and eliminate waste.
  • Monitor and maintain quality standards for products or services, implementing corrective actions as needed to address deviations and prevent reoccurrence.
  • Work closely with the Quality team to assure method and SOP compliance.
  • Monitor and manage facilities and equipment and keep both in sufficient working order.
  • Maintain the integrity of procedures.
  • Maintains necessary supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting supply orders; verifying receipt; and maintaining an orderly storage system.
  • Improve our product and delivery to our customers.
  • Provides information by answering questions or inquiries from both internal and external customers.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies to maintain a safe and secure work environment for employees.
  • Other duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A person with a bachelor's degree in the chemical, environmental, physical or biological sciences, or engineering, with at least twenty-four (24) college semester credit hours in chemistry and at least two (2) years of appropriate experience in environmental analysis of representative organic analytes for which the laboratory is approved or seeking approval. A masters or earned doctoral degree in one of the above disciplines may be substituted for one (1) year of experience.
  • Basic knowledge of principles, terminology, practices, techniques and instrumentation commonly used in a laboratory setting.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize work and manage time to meet deadlines and rush orders
  • Computer literacy
  • Ability to work with delicate laboratory equipment
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats
  • Experience with GC and GCMS is required
  • Knowledge of EPA methodologies is required

Working Conditions:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be in a general office environment.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • This job may require travel less than 20%
