Job Description

The Wang Lab at the University of Missouri-St, Louis and Danforth Plant Science Center seeks to hire a self-motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to work on lipid signaling in plant stress responses and functional morphology. The projects use multidisciplinary research strategies, including protein-lipid interactomes, in vivo metabolite imaging, lipidomics, and multiplex genomic editing. Ph.D. in biochemistry, cellular/molecular biology, plant biology or related field is required. Working knowledge in molecular interactions and/or mass spectrometry is highly desirable. Competitive salary, fringe benefits, and travel support to conferences will be provided. The appointment will be made initially for two years with the option to renew.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and conduct experiments in biochemistry, metabolomics, and molecular biology.
  • Maintain precise records of research findings and analyze data statistically.
  • Write reports as required and prepare manuscripts for publication.
  • Communicate findings and present research at professional meetings.
  • Mentor others and work collaboratively in the lab to learn and aid in other projects.
  • Other lab and research duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Ph.D. in biochemistry, cellular/molecular biology, plant biology or related fields.

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Able to organize, multitask time efficiently, and work independently and collaboratively.
  • Able to use integrated methods for data analysis and thinking quantitatively.
  • Write effectively and have good communication skills.
  • Have prior research experience in biochemistry, molecular biology, and plant biology.

Familiarity with mass spectrometry and metabolomic analyses is a plus, and training in these disciplines will be provided as needed.
