We currently have an exciting opportunity in our Production department. This position specifically is located in Norfolk, Virginia. We are looking for a Trade Superintendent. The work schedule is Monday - Friday, day shift. Shift: ALL Security Clearance:No Clearance
This position supervises Welders, Shipfitters and Pipefitters.
Typically has BA/BS plus 10 years proven shipbuilding experience in supervisory roles, or AA/AS plus 15 years proven shipbuilding experience in supervisory roles or 20 years proven shipbuilding experience in supervisory roles. Working knowledge of contracting and estimating procedures. Demonstrated knowledge and utilization of production processes, methods, and technology. Effective leadership, communication, and team-building skills. Proven ability in people environment. POSITION DEMANDS (Required Experience) Must possess expert ability to effectively communicate with other disciplines, groups and customers to resolve conflicts and possess an in depth knowledge of:
Reports to the Production Manager. Supports the Program Management Organization by maintaining liaison with the availability Project Manager. Liaison with external groups such as suppliers, manufacturers, and customers. Develops and maintains communication at all levels internal to NASSCO-Norfolk to improve the overall business processes with emphasis on safety, quality, cost and schedule management.
Directly accountable to the Production Manager for the efficient and effective performance of trade personnel while adhering to budgetary, manpower, schedule, quality and safety requirements.
Regular, reliable attendance on-site is an essential function of the job. Will be on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Must be willing to travel and have reliable transportation. Must qualify for a Common Access Card (CAC) or RapidGate badge and a security clearance. Must have reliable record of attendance and punctuality and be available for overtime as required. Must be able to physically transit all areas of the facility. Regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects or controls, and to talk and hear. Must have good eye/hand coordination. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Must be familiar with working in a naval-ship-work-environment and be able to go aboard marine vessels and the drydock, climb ladders, work in tanks and confined spaces, and wear personal protective equipment.
