As part of the Scripps Health pharmacy team, pharmacists and pharmacy technicians provide a broad range of clinical services at our sites and work collaboratively with physicians, nurses and other health care team members to deliver high-quality, efficient services to patients and staff. The team at Encinitas prides itself in its teamwork and proactive nature. The pharmacists play a critical role in partnering with physicians to provide quality service to patients

Provides pharmaceutical care according to standards established by Scripps Health Pharmacy, to assigned group of patients. Reviews and evaluates individual drug orders for appropriateness, safety, and cost. Documents the care provided to patients. Supervises the drug distribution operation: responsible for assuring safe and effective alternatives as appropriate. Routinely communicates with physicians, nurses, and patients regarding drug therapy. Contributes to the accomplishment of initiatives to improve the cost-effectiveness of drug therapy. Demonstrates ability to provide age-specific patient care as established for area and job title. Works variable shifts, including evenings and weekends as staffing needs require. Demonstrates ability to perform competencies and perform activities as outlined in the Pharmacist Authorities policy. Primarily operation focused centrally based; participates in direct patient care as clinical competencies are approved and on approved shifts. Precepts students and residents as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:

  • BS Pharmacy or Pharm.D. Degree:.

Required Certification/Registration:

  • California Pharmacist License
  • AHA BLS for the health care provider
  • AHA ACLS certification required prior to being trained to respond to codes.

Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:

  • PGY1 residency
  • 3 years' experience in relevant practice area.
