As a Chemist 1, you will play a key role in ensuring the safety and compliance of various products such as human food, animal feed, ergonomic products, and environmental samples. Your work will involve conducting chemical and physical analyses using standardized and automated techniques and instrumentation to determine compliance with regulatory standards set by the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture. You will also be responsible for creating standard solutions and reagents for the detection of pesticides and environmental contaminants in food samples, as well as analyzing animal feed for nutrient and non-nutrient elements to ensure accuracy of labeling and prevent adulteration. This position requires exceptional precision, ensuring all tasks align with official methods and procedures.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
• Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• A bachelor's degree in chemistry; or
• A bachelor's degree that includes 30 credits in chemistry or biochemistry.
• Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
