McHugh Concrete has been building Chicago's skyline for over 127 years. We are an elite concrete subcontractor specializing on all applications of vertical, cast-in-place concrete structures - parking garages, high-rises, mid-rises, healthcare facilities, commercial buildings, foundations, etc. MCC's internship program offers students an opportunity to engage with business leaders and participate in day to day operations. Students will gain invaluable experience in the construction industry as well as general knowledge of a company atmosphere and culture. The internship program is designed to give students the opportunity to gain insight into the working world and exposure to departments likes field construction, project management, estimating, safety, marketing, and design and structural engineering.

Through our 12-week internship program, you'll gain hands-on experience that strengthens your resume and lays the groundwork for your professional career. You'll be exposed to the full life cycle of a construction project by working alongside our estimating, field, and project management teams-while having the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on active projects. You'll also build strong connections across the organization through jobsite tours, company events, and other team-focused experiences.

Example of Responsibilities:

  • Assist in identifying and helping control hazardous working conditions in coordination with project management and supervisory personnel
  • Participate in and observe staff and Trade safety orientation and training programs
  • Assist with daily documented jobsite safety inspections and work area surveillance inspections
  • Support documentation of accidents, safety observations, and unsafe conditions/activities
  • Assist in identifying safety trends and supporting proactive safety initiatives
  • Accompany safety, health, and insurance inspections during jobsite walkthroughs
  • Additional duties as needed.


Eligibility:

  • Students going into their sophomore, junior or senior year of Construction Management or related major.
