Job Description

GDS Associates, Inc. has an exciting opportunity for an IT Lead Engineer in the Marietta, GA office. The Lead in the IT Department is responsible for supporting and maintaining hybrid IT infrastructure with emphasis on Microsoft Azure cloud services and cybersecurity. This role manages both on-premises and cloud systems, enforces security policies and procedures, and ensures compliance with organizational standards. Additional duties include user support (onboarding, training, account administration, help desk) and IT platform management (setup, configuration, troubleshooting, administration). The position also develops system enhancements and collaborates with internal IT teams to optimize performance and security.

Responsibilities:



  • Assist in the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of Azure cloud resources including Virtual Machines, Azure Storage, Azure Virtual Networks and Entra ID.
  • Implement and maintain cloud security controls aligned with organizational cybersecurity policies.
  • Support compliance initiatives and assist in security audits and risk assessments.
  • Provide operational support and troubleshooting for cloud-related issues.
  • Interact with individual users, track help incidents using internal Help Desk portal.
  • Responsibilities involve day-to-day application of best practices as well as research/developing enhancements to same.
  • Interact and contribute to IT project teams. Report to Senior Consultant/IT Principal.
  • Perform increasingly complex project subtasks. Proficient in utilizing department technology tools and resources. Lead a small group to provide analysis and solutions for subtasks to project team.
  • Collaborate with other team members. Moderate supervision with some latitude for independent judgement. Works under defined guidelines.


Experience and Skills

Required Experience:



  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and at least two (2) years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.


Requirements:



  • Communicate and collaborate with project team to assist with client and project needs.
  • Occasional relocation and setup of IT equipment such as PCs, workgroup printers, servers, battery backup devices. Step ladders less than 6'. Boxing and unboxing IT equipment. Lift up to 30 lbs. periodically.
  • MS Office, SharePoint, Exchange, OneDrive, Microsoft admin and security platforms (Intune, Defender, Entra, Purview).
  • Potential for local client visits or firm branch offices.
