Job Description

Our busy inspection area is looking for an Inspector II to join the team. You will be responsible for ensuring the quality of process and product within the assigned functional area.



Responsibilities:


Depending on functional area that you are working in, duties and tasks may vary. Inspectors may be reassigned upon to a different sub-function at any time based on the business need, and training will be provided.



  • Perform dimensional inspection using mechanical and visual inspection equipment, such as an optical comparator, contour reader, dial indicators, inspection hand tools, surface plates, height gauges, air gauges, specialized bearing measurement equipment, and gauge blocks.
  • Measure bearing assemblies and/or component features such as roundness, concentricity, perpendicularity, flatness, sphericity, surface finish, surface noise and vibration levels using specialized equipment.
  • Complete basic control charts, run charts, prepare charts, and histograms.
  • Read and understand drawings, specifications, procedures, standards and instructions. Write inspection rejection reports in accordance with company procedures, and maintain detailed inspection records using appropriate forms. Make recommendations regarding quality and manufacturing improvements as needed.
  • Perform visual inspection of bearing assemblies, and/or bearing components, using microscope and the unaided eye.
  • Communicate with Manufacturing & Quality personnel and other disciplines as required in a timely and professional manner.
  • Trains new hires as assigned and assists with departmental goals.


To be considered for Inspector II, the skill levels you will need to be proficient in include:



  • Assembly Inspectors: Proficient in all Assembly skills except Government Source;
  • Final Inspectors: Proficient in a minimum of two (2) Final Inspection skills
  • Receiving Inspectors: Proficient in all Receiving skills except GD&T & Secondary Inspection
  • Ball/Element Inspectors: Proficient in a minimum of two (2) Ball/Element skills


Job Skills and Abilities:



  • Utilize tools, microscope, and all other NHBB measuring equipment including electronic and computer based, where applicable.
  • Read, reference and interpret complex written and verbal instructions; always following established standard procedures
  • Maintain established output levels and quality standards
  • Recognize and report any irregularities as to fits, defective parts, finishes, work techniques and/or quality of workmanship
  • Maintain necessary records; work is subject to audited inspections.


Education and Experience:



  • HS Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of two (2) years' manufacturing experience required.


Physical Requirements:



  • May include: standing, walking, bending, reaching, grabbing, twisting, carrying, pushing and pulling.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40lbs.


Vision requirements:



  • Near Vision: Minimum requirement shall be Snellen 14/18 (20/25 or better) and Jaeger type 1 at 12 inches or greater; Ortho-Rated 8 or equivalent, in at least one eye, either corrected or uncorrected.
  • Color Vision: Average or normal (4 of 6 responses on Titmus, B+L, or American Optical testing machine or a satisfactory response when checked with an Ishihara or Pseudoiscromatic plate).
