Overview

The Junior Corporate Banking Associate is an entry-level position within Renasant Bank's corporate lending unit. This position is designed to expose the employee to all facets of corporate lending as a means of developing the employee into a Corporate Banking Associate. This position will be responsible for providing client coverage activities for corporate clients in designated geography, with a focus on Corporate Banking. This position will work closely with other Corporate Banking professionals performing assigned duties, including but not limited to, due diligence, document processing, financial modeling, statistical analysis, research, and presentation development. The position provides assistance with financial gathering, loan documentation, customer payments/past dues and deposit related efforts. The Corporate Banking Associate will follow all risk related practices and policies.

Responsibilities

    Play an integral role in supporting the senior leaders in new business development, due diligence, and/or transaction execution including but not limited to evaluation, underwriting, approval process, loan documentation and closing processes
  • Perform tasks assigned and overseen by others, including drafting internal and external documents and marketing materials, support of executing transactions, as well as working with clients, attorneys, investors, interested parties and/or other senior professionals on a day-to-day basis
  • Build cross-functional relationships within the Corporate lending lines of business
  • Follow all risk related practices and policies
  • Develop client relationship skills and industry/product/market knowledge
  • Work with lending team in the closing and documentation of new and existing credit facilities
  • Participate on calls with new and existing bank clients
  • Manage and assist in the preparation of loan submission packages for new loans and renewals of existing loans including but not limited to financial spreads, cash flow statements, commercial real estate models and ROE models
  • Direct financial statements to corporate credit analysts for spreads and analysis
  • Research and draft company reports for new and existing clients, including company histories, financial analysis, collateral analysis, global cash flow analysis, and strengths and weaknesses of any loan requests
  • Research and draft industry reports for existing and potential customers from available public information, trade publications, and additional resources
  • Compile targeted potential business client lists for relationship managers to utilize in business development
  • Assist with exceptions, credit file maintenance, credit monitoring requirements, preparation for portfolio reviews, and required covenant maintenance
  • Obtain and retain product knowledge
  • Provide back-up support for managing the internal audit, external audit, and examination process with respect to lending
  • Perform other related duties as assigned


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or applicable business major
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Ability and motivation to make sales calls
  • Ability to analyze a credit application for completeness and for documents needed on all types of loans
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage duties in a fast-paced, team oriented environment
  • Knowledge of Federal laws and regulations involving loans preferred
