Assistant Project Manager Summary/Objective The Assistant Project Manager supports the Project Manager in the planning, coordination, and execution of construction projects to ensure successful completion within scope, schedule, and budget. This role is responsible for assisting with daily project management tasks, communicating with clients and subcontractors, maintaining accurate documentation, and ensuring quality and safety standards are met. The position plays a key part in supporting project organization, communication, and execution excellence in alignment with New Dominion Construction's core values of Service, Integrity, Accountability, and Expertise. Primary Job Responsibilities Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. * Assist in the planning, scheduling, and execution of construction projects under the supervision of the Project Manager. * Liaise with project stakeholders regarding project details, deliverables, and expectations. * Develop and maintain project documentation, including contracts, RFI's, submittals, meeting minutes, daily reports, change events, change orders, posting changes to drawings and specifications, as-built documentation, punch list, inspections, schedule updates, material tracking, certified payrolls, and closeout packages (operations, maintenance, and warranties). * Support project estimating efforts by preparing detailed takeoffs and cost estimates for drywall and general construction projects. * Assist with subcontractor management, including maintaining relationships, reviewing pay applications, and ensuring compliance with scope and quality standards. * Monitor and track project progress against established milestones and schedules. * Support the preparation and distribution of progress reports and change orders. * Assist with implementation of project-specific Quality Control and Safety Plans. * Coordinate and facilitate project meetings, ensuring clear communication between office and field teams. * Perform other related duties as assigned in support of project goals. Competencies, Skills, Abilities, Qualifications * Strong written and oral communication skills. * Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. * Ability to work independently and collaboratively with minimal supervision. * Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). * Experience with construction software such as Procore, Quick Bid and On-Screen Takeoff. * Knowledge of project scheduling, estimating, and cost control practices. Prefer experience with Primavera P6 and / or MS Project. * Ability to interpret blueprints, specifications, and contract documents. * Familiarity with OSHA regulations and construction safety standards. * Demonstrated commitment to professional integrity and accountability. Supervisory Responsibility This position does not currently have direct supervisory responsibilities but may provide oversight or direction to interns or administrative support personnel on assigned projects. Work Environment This role operates in both office and field environments. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to various weather conditions, uneven terrain, construction noise, and equipment typical of a construction site. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and may be required to sit for extended periods to process paperwork or participate in meetings. Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, with additional hours required to meet project deadlines. Travel Occasional travel may be required to project sites, client meetings, or subcontractor facilities within the region. Required Education and Experience Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field. Experience: Minimum of 3 years of project management or field superintendent experience (or 7 years without a degree), preferably in commercial or government construction. Valid driver's license required.
