GENERAL FUNCTION

The Specialist - Purchasing is responsible for planning the department's manufacturing schedule. This position interacts with internal partners including marketing, sales, and manufacturing to understand promotions, demand, and material requirements.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Analyze, plan, and execute all the material requirements for various product categories
  • Responsible for building and fostering supplier relationships to ensure that completion deadlines are met per the master sales forecasts or customer orders
  • Using data and systems to manage inventory levels to maximize manufacturing production plans
  • Review and coordinate MPS to support forecasted demand for distribution and custom order products
  • Create purchase orders to support MPS requirements and production goals
  • Create production schedules based on MPS requirements for various work centers including the Print Shop, three Lens Cleaner production lines as well as outside contractors
  • Responsible for expediting highly critical supplier orders that can have a significant delay and/or financial loss to the business due to unforeseen conditions
  • Develop and maintain strong partnership with local and overseas suppliers to ensure the best value, highest quality, and timely delivery for optimal inventory levels in support of production plans
  • Using available data, prepare procurement reports for Management team
  • Performs other purchasing and manufacture planning related duties and responsibilities as needed


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS



  • 5+ years of experience in Production purchasing and Production planning in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision
  • Strong communication skills
  • Excellent ability to multi-task and prioritize
  • Factual and data driven decision maker with strong written and oral communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Software applications such as Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Word


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS



  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Procurement, Business or equivalent
  • APICS CPIM and/or CPM certification
