Consumer Lending Intern

Summary of Role

The Consumer Lending Intern will support the consumer lending team in processing and evaluating retail loan applications, assisting with credit reviews, and ensuring efficient and compliant lending operations. This role provides hands-on experience in consumer credit analysis, underwriting support, and customer-facing financial services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with reviewing consumer loan workflows, policies and procedures (personal, awouto, credit card, and installment loans)

  • Format and ensure all procedures are uploaded accurately

  • Partner with Loan Optimization Team on any updates needed

  • Opportunities to learn and grow within the lending department including but not limited to underwriting and quality review

  • Maintain confidentiality of customer financial information

Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Accounting, or related field

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Basic understanding of credit reports and consumer lending concepts preferred

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and standard office software

  • Strong communication and customer service skills

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Skills
  • Coursework in banking, consumer finance, or risk management

  • Familiarity with FICO scores, debt-to-income ratios, and credit bureau reports

  • Experience in customer service, retail banking, or call center environments

  • Knowledge of consumer lending regulations (e.g., Fair Lending, ECOA, FCRA, TILA)

Learning Outcomes
  • Exposure to consumer lending operations and underwriting workflows

  • Understanding of credit risk assessment and regulatory compliance

  • Development of customer interaction and documentation skills

  • Insight into careers in retail banking and consumer finance

Internship Details
  • Duration:10-12 weeks

  • Schedule: Full Time (part time may be considered. Please outline your availability)

  • Location: On-site- 4 Winner's Circle Albany, NY

Starting Compensation:$18.00/hr.
