GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
CMM programmer 3 uses precision measurement tools to create inspection programs for coordinate-measuring machines. This role observes, creates, and reports, using custom-written programs to generate inspection data for manufacturing, engineering, and quality. In addition to performing calibration and maintenance they will also use calipers and micrometers to ensure product meet specifications and may be cross trained on other inspection processes.

REQUIREMENTS:

3-6 years recent experience CMM programming
HS Diploma required,
AA and technical CMM training preferred in DMIS and SPC
Must pass a criminal background check and drug test.
Ability to read, write and understand directions in English.
Vision required in the job includes close vision and reading a computer screen and digital tools. 20/20 corrected.
Familiarity with GD&T symbols and ability to read blueprints
Intermediate math skills
Ability to train others (CMM, measurement tools, GDT, Blueprints, SAP, etc.)
Eligible to work in an ITAR environment

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  1. Operates precision, programmable, automated inspection platforms daily.
  2. Develops and maintains technique cards or other process documents which clearly detail set up and operating process for users. May review and approve the work of others.
  3. Writes new programs, including geometric dimensioning and tolerance frames from blueprints. This data is translated into inspection program output to ensure manufactured products meet internal engineering and customer dimensional specifications. Will test and modify or troubleshoot existing programs often.
  4. Tracks, updates, and stores multiple programs to inspect multiple parts at a time. May review the programming of others.
  5. Measures parts in a variety of ways as needed for production. Generally crossed trained on other inspection methods including non-destructive testing or visual inspection. May be trained as an internal auditor.
  6. Generates dimensional data from CMM program and downloads into inspection database for final inspection reports or other trending data.
  7. Upgrades previous CMM programs to current technology. Performs software and machine maintenance as assigned.
  8. Daily conformation of parts in SAP work order record. Conducts quality control inspections as requested.
  9. Trains other employees, including machinists on proper use of CMM. May train less experienced CMM operators or programmers on Kyocera's machines and processes. May host group trainings or attend offsite vendor trainings on new equipment.
  10. Works with a wide variety of team members to meet inspection deadlines.
  11. Maintains clean workspace, including cleaning and maintenance on CMMs and maintaining P5S standards in the area.
  12. Applies high level of attention to detail and reports scrap and sonkin accurately. May participate in corrective action projects or investigations.
  13. Work with operators and machinists to make sure proper inspections are being recorded.
  14. Verifies accuracy regarding new parts, raw materials, and finish requirements.
  15. May track, report and disposition non-conforming parts. Fills out all quality related reports and work orders properly.
  16. Follows all safety and PPE related work rules and processes.
  17. Completes all assigned preventative maintenance items in SAP.
  18. Perform Gauge R and R studies as requested by engineering.
  19. Design or order jigs or part holder for unusual or new dimensional checks.
  20. Enter purchase requisitions for department needs into SAP.
  21. Must be flexible to changing needs. overtime, and priorities, multi-task, and work as a lead or individual contributor as directed to meet manufacturing delivery schedules.
  22. Ability to understand and comply with all ISO 9001, Semiconductor and Aerospace procedures. May participate in audits and updates of procedures.
