The CAD Engineering Manager is responsible for overseeing the design, development and optimization of CAD workflows, tools and engineering documentation in the company. This role manages a team of CAD designers, ensures adherence to best practices and industry standards, and partners closely with mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing teams to support product development. Additional responsibilities include compiling data, configuring bills of material, performing electrical calculations required for the preparation of drawings, assisting with project proposals and submittals, and performing other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate. The ideal candidate must be self-motivated and possess the ability to work and think independently. This position reports to the Director of Engineering and will based at the Company’s facility in Ripon, California.

Essential Job Functions
  • Lead and manage the CAD Engineering team; supervise and assist designers. Assign tasks, set priorities, manage team workload capacity, and ensure deadlines are being met
  • Update, maintain, and enforce CAD standards, templates, library blocks, and workflows.
  • Ensure all drawings meet Company and industry standards.
  • Create and maintain best-practice documentation for CAD procedures, libraries, and reference manuals.
  • Work with the engineering team to design Industrial Control Panel Systems based on customer needs, technical resources, design specifications, and proposal.
  • Participate in design reviews to ensure manufacturability, integrity, and compliance.
  • Prepare detailed material for design and supply of equipment per written specifications.
  • Assist with projects by designing and conducting research; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, and components conferring with vendors.
  • Identify and Implement process Improvements, automation tools, macros, and new CAD technologies to Improve efficiency and reduce design errors. Monitor team performance and recommend enhancements.
  • Serve as the primary technical liaison across all departments, ensuring that design data, modeling practices, and documentation standards remain consistent and fully aligned with program, manufacturing, and quality requirements.

Required Qualifications
  • B.S. or M.S. degree in electrical engineering or related degree;
  • Two to five years’ engineering experience in a technical role or similar field;
  • Ability to work well with others with minimal supervision;
  • Excellent time management skills;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Excellent technical writing skills and strong written and verbal communication skills; and
  • 2D CAD design experience (AutoCAD or SolidWorks).

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience or knowledge of electricity and control panels, electrical components.
  • Experience or knowledge of electrical design, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, I/O lists, P&ID, cable routing, and panel layout design.
  • Understanding of electrical component selection (relays, contactors, power supplies, PLCs, sensors, circuit breakers) and their integration into electrical panel design and assembly.
  • Familiarity with UL 508A compliance requirements.
  • Identify and define system design requirements;
  • Experience leading and managing teams.
  • Familiarity with different CAD related file formats (DXF,DWG,BAK).
  • Highly detail-oriented, with the ability to detect design issues early, maintain consistency across models, templates, naming conventions, and ensure all CAD data, drawings, and engineering changes are accurate and up-to-date.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical, electromechanical, and hydraulic systems;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;

Physical Demands
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time;
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus; and
  • Ability to look at computer monitors for much of the workday.

Work Environment
  • Approximately 90% Office; and
  • Approximately 10% Light Industrial - May be exposed to areas of high noise levels, hazardous propellants, chemicals and industrial facilities. Appropriate PPE and training will be provided for all conditions.

This is an exempt position. Compensation is dependent on skill level. The base salary range for this position is between $70,000 and $75,000 per year. Benefits package and incentives are provided.
