Business Development Representative - Education Markets (K-12 & Higher Education)

We are seeking an experienced Business Development professional with a background in K-12 school and/or higher education markets. This part-time role is responsible for driving growth by developing client relationships, identifying new opportunities, and supporting pursuit efforts across Central New York and the Finger Lakes region.

The Business Development Representative will collaborate closely with project managers, technical leaders, and marketing staff to support proposals, presentations, and client engagement strategies. This is a part-time position offering competitive compensation, excellent employee benefits, and a collaborative, growth-oriented work environment.

Position Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with K-12 school districts, colleges, universities, and related stakeholders
  • Identify, qualify, and pursue new business opportunities within the education market
  • Support proposal development, including coordination of pursuit strategy, messaging, and team alignment
  • Assist project and technical leaders with client engagement, interviews, and presentations
  • Track market intelligence, client feedback, and competitive activity to inform growth strategies
  • Collaborate with marketing and leadership to develop and execute regional business development plans
  • Support client retention efforts and cross-selling opportunities within existing accounts

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Minimum 3-5 years of business development, client management, or related experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred
  • Demonstrated experience developing relationships and winning work within K-12 and/or higher education markets
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with CRM systems and pursuit/proposal processes preferred
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with technical and project teams
  • Ability to conduct regional travel estimated at approximately 25%

Estimated Compensation Range and Benefits

$30.00 - 35.00/hr*

*Actual compensation may vary based on related work experience, geographical location and market conditions, education/training, certifications, and other credentials, as well as applicable knowledge and skills.
