We are seeking a dynamic leader to serve as the Professional Services Leader for our Building Engineering Services (BES) Business Group in Arizona and New Mexico. This is a key leadership role that functions in partnership with some of the best and brightest professionals in the industry. In this position, you will be responsible for the growth and integration of our Professional Services practices across multiple technical disciplines in HDR's BES practice. You will engage with technical professionals across HDR's employee matrix, and our industry, to leverage resources that address our clients' needs.

As the BES Professional Services Leader, you will manage our area technical resource (Business Class) experts, ensuring that their project teams are effectively delivering industry-leading service. You will leverage your leadership tools to direct and manage key projects and programs that align with your technical and managerial skillset. While this position is focused on the Arizona and New Mexico geography, HDR's geographic reach is broad and your skillset may be called upon to support programs and initiatives in other geographies, if desired. As a people-leader, you will participate in recruiting, mentoring and training activities, and you will have responsibility for workload balancing and strategic staffing actions. You may serve as a mentor in HDR's career growth and development programs, and you will be an ambassador for HDR's employee ownership culture.
Primary Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities of the Area BES Professional Services Leader are as follows:
* Develop, coordinate, monitor and improve technical competencies of business group staff to meet client needs and market drivers
* Provide leadership to assigned business class leaders
* Collaborate with area operations, marketing and management
* Serve as a project or program manager
* Actively participate in projects or manage projects to meet assigned utilization rate
* Support business group practice and professional discipline groups and project teams
* Lead activities to continually improve standards and best practices; implement effective quality assurance
* Participate in area business group strategic planning and plan implementation
* Lead and monitor development and training of business group staff in technical and business competencies
* Coordinate and monitor staff training in company policies and processes including technical, business, ethical, safety, human resources and quality program areas
* Monitor QC Review activities including assignment of experienced and qualified reviewers
* Support business group activities related to hiring and retaining key staff, workload balancing and qualified staffing of project teams, involvement in technical and industry associations, publishing, community and client functions and risk management
* Support communication and coordination within other business groups
* Support growth and development of digital delivery processes and procedures
* Perform other duties as needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • A minimum of 15 years' experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Excellent communication, leadership and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of the local market.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a Professional, Architecture, Engineering or closely related field.
  • A minimum of 10 years' experience.
  • Maintains a professional or engineering registration and has related technical experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with leading diverse teams. Committed to quality, improvement and HDR values.
  • Actively engaged in professional or industry associations to enhance HDR technical expertise and brand.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with regional and local office managers, other area business group directors, technical directors and marketing managers.
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.
