As a Scientist in the Emulsion Chemistry Group within Life Science R&D organization, you will design surfactants and prototype formulations to create emulsions with desired interfacial properties-driving the development of innovative reagents that advance droplet digital PCR (ddPCR) technology and contribute to improved healthcare outcomes globally.

Drawing on your deep expertise in surfactant and emulsion, you will help define product concepts, assess technical feasibility, and develop platforms and workflows that meet evolving customer needs. You'll collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers, providing critical technical insights to ensure our products achieve the highest standards of quality, performance, and reliability.

How You'll Make An Impact:

  • Design surfactants and prototype formulations targeting desired interfacial properties for biological applications.
  • Build analytical capabilities for surface characterization and deepen understanding of interfaces, focusing on structure-function relationships.
  • Expand the IP portfolio for microfluidic emulsion-based droplet technologies and collaborate with stakeholders to align innovations with IP strategies.
  • Develop ddPCR oils and contribute to commercialization by supporting process scale-up effort with internal manufacturing and external CMOs.
  • Support existing oils and reagents by analyzing non-conforming materials, implementing corrective actions, and driving continuous improvements in processes, product quality, and efficiency.
  • Ensure lab safety, compliance, and efficiency by maintaining best practices in chemical handling, equipment management and cleanliness.

What You Bring:

  • Education/Work Experience: Ph.D. degree with 0-3 years or M.S. degree with 3+ years or B.S. degree in organic chemistry, organic synthesis, biochemistry, or related discipline with 6+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in emulsion or microemulsion, particularly with technologies that stabilize emulsions, such as surfactants, solid particles (Pickering emulsions), and cross-linking, etc., is highly preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and implement the most effective solutions to complex challenges.
  • Effective communicator with the ability to quickly adapt to changes while maintaining a result-driven focus.
  • Solid understanding of statistics with the ability to apply it effectively; prior experience with Design of Experiments (DOE) preferred.
