| Essential Job Duties |
Join our team and help shape the safety and security of our campus community.
We are seeking an experienced and motivated
Advanced Locksmith Level 1 professional to bring high-level technical expertise, leadership, and project coordination to our campus locksmith operations. As a member of the
Building Maintenance and Operations team, you will play a key role in maintaining secure environments across campus, guiding and mentoring team members and supporting construction and renovation projects with expert locksmith knowledge.

Key responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to:
- Serve as a technical expert, guiding, training, and coaching journey-level and contributing technicians on installation methods and application techniques.
- Conduct detailed research on key bitting arrays, construction documents, and university guidelines.
- Understand and accurately apply SimpleK processes and procedures.
- Review and verify construction plans and hardware specifications to ensure compliance with university standards.
Ability to work with hardware specification take-offs with accuracy and attention to detail.- Support project management efforts, demonstrating a working knowledge of project timelines, workflows, and deliverables.
Assist with cost estimates and proposals by reviewing requirements and researching vendor sources.- Monitor and track orders to ensure the timely completion of materials and project phases.
- Assist supervisors in developing project timelines, identifying critical path items, and setting milestones.
- Allocate resources effectively for your own work and for team assignments, helping prevent scheduling conflicts.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with customers and campus partners regarding project needs and scope.
- Lead and oversee journey-level technicians, ensuring both journey-level and contributing technicians have the tools and information needed to be successful.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and the general public, and follow verbal and written instructions related to work assignments.
- Perform lifting duties up to 30 pounds frequently and 60 pounds occasionally, with or without reasonable accommodations
- Perform general maintenance and repair tasks, which may include long periods of standing, climbing ladders, working in tight spaces, and using a variety of tools.
- Work safely in environments where exposure to animals, insects, or other outdoor conditions may occur.

| Other Responsibilities |
- Advanced locksmith position will maintain on-call status; will be responsible for continuing education and license renewal requirements. Will oversee special assignments as assigned by supervisor.
- Mandatory on-call service rotation will be to provide after-hours emergency service when paged.
- This position has been designated as essential personnel for the University and may be required to report to work during adverse weather conditions even though the University may be operating on an alternate schedule. This position may assist with snow and ice removal under the direction of a supervisor

Qualifications
| Minimum Experience/Education |
High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
Optional Guidelines: Experience in the Trade(s) areas related to the area of assignment may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

| Preferred Qualifications |
- Extensive locksmith experience, preferably within an institutional, educational, or large organizational setting.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel, for documentation, reporting, and project tracking.
- Familiarity with AiM work order systems or similar facilities management software is desirable.
- Active membership in professional organizations, such as the Associated Institutional Locksmiths Association or other recognized industry groups.
- Journey-Level Locksmith Certification or Fire Door Inspector Certification are advantageous but not required.
