ABOUT THE ROLE

The Director, Safety Training will supervise the MYR technical trainers and provide safety and training support for MYR Districts and large projects. The Director will interface with safety, fleet and operations personnel to provide technical training and program development, program delivery, skills assessment and employee qualification support to MYR Group Inc.. This position will report to the Vice President,

Safety. Extensive travel throughout the MYR operational area is required.


ABOUT YOU

* Partner with Executives and local leadership to create continuous training and leadership development, as well as explore and develop alternative training methods to increase participation and retention

* Accountable for the development and successful execution of strategies that anticipate and meet corporate and client objectives

* Responsible to develop a successful training team including Regional Training Managers as well as establish KPI's to measure the success of implementation efforts and programs * Additionally, the Director shall be responsible for:

* Organizational assessments

* Product/equipment training

* Compliance training

* Human performance

* Supervisor leadership training

* Work effectiveness training

* Maintain technical training program development and the delivery of classroom & field

training/qualification for craft, supervisory and safety personnel

* ET&D 10 & 20 programs to include update training.

* Support the ET&D Partnership and any other assigned representation for MYR in the industry

* Responsible for task training related to electrical transmission, distribution and substation construction and maintenance (to include but not limited to):

* Crane Training

* Rigging & Wire Stringing

* Signal Person

* Electrical Awareness

* Energized Electrical Worker

* Support the expansion of energized work throughout the MYR service areas via working with district and project managers; market energized work services to their respective clients

* Support energized work expansion by developing qualified trainers and support personnel throughout the MYR Group districts

* Regular and predictable attendance

* Other duties as assigned

* Essential functions of this position are to be performed in a Company-designated office or field location

* Understand and comply with the Company's Code of Business Conduct and Ethics Policy and other industry-specific professional and ethical standards

Principal Skills

* Advanced knowledge of utility and construction safety programs

* Working knowledge of OSP (OSHA strategic partnership)

* Advanced experience with OSHA record-keeping, reporting and Method of Procedure (MOP) writing

* Proficiency in MS Office Suite applications, as well as ADOBE and Photoshop

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills

* Advanced knowledge and understanding of OSHA and other industry-related safety regulations * Ability to travel into the field and job site visits

* Strong organizational and problem resolution skills * Presentation skills

Qualifications

* Minimum 3 years of OSHA/DOT-related experience

* Minimum 5 years of experience in job hazard and safety analysis with the transmission and distribution industry

* Proven ability to both develop and present technical training

* Previous experience managing a Learning Management System (LMS)

Preferred Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health or Environmental Health & Safety or closely-related field; combination of relevant education and experience considered in lieu of degree
  • Safety or related technical undergraduate degree preferred (such as CSP, OSHA 500/510 is a plus)
  • Safety-related credentials (e.g., OSHA 501, OTI certifications, etc.)
