Job Description

Position Summary
The University of Missouri Department of Athletics is seeking a Director of College Scouting - Football to lead and manage all aspects of collegiate player evaluation for its NCAA Division I Football program.

Reporting to the Chief Recruiting Officer, the Director of College Scouting will oversee the evaluation of junior college and college transfer prospects, identify potential additions to the program, and provide strategic insights to support recruiting and roster planning. This role collaborates closely with coaching staff, recruiting operations, analytics, and compliance to ensure data-driven decision-making and competitive roster construction across the entire football program.

Key Responsibilities

1. College Scouting and Prospect Evaluation (40%)

  • Lead the evaluation and scouting of junior college and college transfer prospects nationwide.
  • Assess film, statistics, and performance to identify potential fits for the program.
  • Develop comprehensive reports and rankings for all prospective student-athletes.
  • Maintain and update recruiting databases and evaluation boards for coaching and personnel staff.

2. Recruiting Strategy and Communication (25%)

  • Provide recommendations and insights to the Chief Recruiting Officer and Head Coach regarding roster needs and recruiting priorities.
  • Collaborate with recruiting staff to coordinate evaluations, campus visits, and prospect engagement.
  • Assist in planning recruiting travel, scout trips, and attendance at showcases, combines, and camps.
  • Support recruiting communication strategies while ensuring full NCAA and SEC compliance.

3. Analytics, Data, and Reporting (15%)

  • Utilize analytics platforms and data tools to enhance prospect evaluation and recruitment efficiency.
  • Track and report performance metrics, positional needs, and depth chart projections.
  • Maintain detailed records of scouting reports, prospect communications, and recruiting activity.

4. Staff Leadership and Training (10%)

  • Supervise and train recruiting interns, student assistants, and part-time scouting personnel.
  • Cross-train staff in film breakdown, recruiting databases, evaluation processes, and reporting tools.
  • Promote consistency in evaluation methodology and maintain high standards of organization and professionalism.

5. Compliance and Program Support (10%)

  • Ensure all scouting and recruiting activities comply with NCAA, SEC, and University of Missouri policies.
  • Collaborate with compliance, operations, and coaching staff to align scouting objectives with overall program goals.
Shift

Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm; Nights, Weekends, and Travel as required.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in related/ relevant area or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 5 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience in a NCAA Division I football program.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary is commensurate with education and experience
