Job Description

The Legal Aid Society is seeking a data-driven and detail-oriented professional to join our Development Department as the Development Associate. Reporting to the Director of Development Operations, the Associate is one of three data-focused positions on the Development Operations team, who together are responsible for supporting the data management of the organization's fundraising revenue. The Associate will partner closely with the entire Development Team, including the Major Gifts, Institutional Giving, and Donor Communications units. This role will provide critical support to the department's plan to grow fundraising revenue and donor/supporter engagement ahead of the organization's 150th anniversary.



The Associate will assist the Database Manager with developing and implementing data management and hygiene best practices and also generate solicitation lists for online and offline fundraising programs. They will be expected to: understand the donor experience and the needs of fundraisers; effectively communicate and collaborate with colleagues; and support the management of data systems and the development of department policy. This is an ideal opportunity for a fundraising professional who is ready to create system processes and create efficiencies while rolling up their sleeves to support all annual fundraising efforts. This role currently has a hybrid work schedule.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES


Data Health Management in Fundraising CRM, Raiser's Edge/RE NXT



  • Database list generation and management across all Development systems [Raiser's Edge NXT; Bloomerang, etc.], including gathering requirements from frontline fundraising staff, verifying donor information; regular communication with Direct Mail vendor, and related constituent record maintenance for offline and online donors
  • Provide support for the Database Manager in the execution of data imports and exports into databases
  • Assisting in partnering with the Institutional and Major Giving Teams to understand their data needs around portfolio management, and support that work in NXT


Digital Fundraising Platform Support



  • Supporting the Development Team's goal of implementing process improvement relating to the data flow of Raiser's Edge NXT, Constant Contact and Bloomerang, and working alongside the Digital Fundraising Manager, Development to segment audiences for online fundraising program


General Development Operations Administrative Support



  • Gift Entry and donor acknowledgements, prospect research, and other administrative support during periods of high gift volume, such as calendar year-end and after major events/campaigns, including preparing physical donor mailings, assisting the Development Assistant with donor acknowledgments and receipts, and updating donor records as needed


Coordination of Policies and Procedures Documentation



  • Assisting the Development Operations team with the development of department process and procedures, aligned with industry best practices related to fundraising technology platform contingencies


Professional Development and Other Duties as Assigned



  • Participating in continuous professional development
  • Continuously learn about forms of bias in the workplace and demonstrate affirmative behaviors that support an inclusive work environment
  • Other duties as assigned



QUALIFICATIONS


Required qualifications:



  • A combination of 4+ years of post-secondary education and work experience


Preferred qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree is strongly preferred
  • Experience supporting development operations is preferred
  • Experience working with a donor database, CRM systems and online marketing platforms is preferred; strong preference for experience working with Blackbaud products (Raiser's Edge/RE NXT and Omatic Cloud solutions)

Physical, environment, travel, and other duties required:



  • Mostly sedentary, significant time using a computer and monitor; communicating and meeting using video
  • Requires occasional or frequent physical movement to perform essential job functions which may include, bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, standing or walking for long periods of time, accessing small spaces
  • May or will require travel within NYC, across the five-borough region
  • Ability to lift 10 pounds on an occasional/routine basis


* For positions noted as essential, this will require either remote or in-person work during times of closure or otherwise non-typical business hours which may include evenings and weekends and during unforeseen events such as inclement weather or poor air quality conditions.



SALARY AND BENEFITS


The salary range represents a good faith estimate of the range we expect to pay for this role. The actual salary offered may vary depending on many factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, as well as collectively bargained salary steps for unionized roles.



Salary Range: $72,000 - $78,000
