Your Role

The Senior Creative Technologist, Front-End/Creative Engineering is responsible for leading the development, architecture, and delivery of digital experiences, interactive microsites, and creative technology prototypes for OUTFRONT XLabs. This role combines advanced front-end engineering expertise with emerging technology exploration, including generative and agentive AI, data-driven content, and web-based interactive visualizations. The Senior Creative Technologist will provide technical leadership, guide junior team members, and contribute to the evolution of XLabs' development frameworks and workflows.

Your Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, architecture, and delivery of digital microsites, prototypes, and interactive experiences utilizing a modern stack including Next.js, Vercel, Neon/Postgres, and Payload CMS.

  • Collaborate with XLabs Design, Content, and Dynamic teams to translate creative concepts and functional requirements into scalable technical implementations.

  • Drive research and development initiatives involving generative AI, agentive AI workflows, real-time data integrations, and emerging web technologies.

  • Develop advanced interactions, animations, and 3D or WebGL-based visual elements using tools such as Three.js, GSAP, D3.js, and related libraries.

  • Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and code review support to junior technologists.

  • Oversee project planning, technical scoping, task delegation, and cross-team coordination for assigned initiatives.

  • Conduct comprehensive testing, troubleshooting, and optimization to ensure quality, performance, and accessibility standards are met.

  • Maintain documentation of development processes, architectural decisions, and version histories.

  • Participate in regular evaluations of workflows, recommending improvements to enhance development efficiency and technical capabilities.

  • Support operational and lab-based testing for digital OOH deployments and prototyping environments.

Your Qualifications

  • 5-8+ years' experience in front-end development or creative technology roles, preferably within agency, studio, or production environments.

  • Advanced proficiency with HTML5, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript, React, and Next.js.

  • Experience deploying and managing applications on Vercel, including edge functions and serverless APIs.

  • Strong working knowledge of Postgres/Neon, server-side integrations, and headless CMS platforms (Payload, Sanity, etc.).

  • Demonstrated experience in developing interactive or animated web experiences using Three.js, WebGL, D3.js, GSAP, or related technologies.

  • Familiarity with integrating or operationalizing AI/ML, generative media models, or automation workflows.

  • Strong understanding of software development best practices, including Git/GitHub workflows, testing, and documentation.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Ability to lead multiple projects concurrently and operate both independently and collaboratively.

The salary range for this role is $140,000-$160,000 per year. This role is also eligible for incentive compensation. Compensation is determined during our interview process by assessing a candidate's experience and skills relative to internal peers and market benchmarks evaluated for the scope and responsibilities of the position.
