Analytical Chemist Intern - Summer 2026

The Role:
Our site in Billerica, MA is seeking a/an Analytical Chemist Intern to join our team for the Summer 2026 season. This assignment is intended to be 12-14 weeks in duration.

The Analytical Chemist Intern will be responsible for performing experiments to evaluate liquid filtration and purification products in our Metrology Labs. This position includes the development of new organic analysis method to evaluate different filter and purifier materials to support membrane R&D and NPD on developing leading edge filtration and purification products. The intern will gain valuable experience in semi-conductor filter/purifier testing while being given a developmental opportunity in an industrial setting.

What You'll Do:
* Prepare samples and perform trace level metals test by ICP-MS
* Design experiments under direction of a senior scientist and establish new filter testing method to evaluate liquid filter/purifier performance in cleanliness and metal removal efficiency.
* Support the senior scientist on developing new method for detection of sub 20 nm particles using single nanoparticle ICP-MS.
* Design and Perform method alignment with other labs.
* Analyze test results and provide recommendations for optimizing testing method.
* Maintains accurate records and document the new testing method.
* Present project progress in group meetings.

What We Seek:
* Experience in handling chemicals, operating laboratory equipment, generating and interpreting data.
* The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, and able to work well in a fast-paced environment, demonstrate clear communication skills, and be motivated to learn.
* Knowledge of nanoparticles and analytical chemistry basic is a plus.
* Knowledge in ICP-MS is a plus
* It will be first shift with no overtime requirement

Desired Major(s) & Graduation Year:
* Sophomore or above student in chemistry, material science, or chemical engineering.
* Graduation date of spring 2026 or later

Eligibility

* Must be a currently enrolled student
* Available to work 40 hours a week, M-F (8a-5p) beginning in mid-May/June through August/September.
* Must be familiar with the universities requirements to participate in an internship program

Compensation: $20-$32 hourly range with actual pay dependent on graduation year and candidate skillset
