Overview
DecisionPoint seeks an Accessibility & Inclusive Design Specialist (Journeyman) to ensure Military Community and Family Policy (MC&FP) digital experiences meet accessibility and inclusive design standards under the MODES III contract. This role supports Task 2 Outreach and Engagement and works in close coordination with Task 3 technical teams to embed accessibility and inclusive design principles early in the design and development lifecycle. The Accessibility & Inclusive Design Specialist ensures compliance with Section 508 and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines standards, advocates inclusive design for diverse military populations, and supports early accessibility validation rather than post delivery remediation. Duties & Responsibilities
The Accessibility & Inclusive Design Specialist (Journeyman) will:
- Advocate inclusive design principles that support diverse military and family populations.
- Integrate accessibility requirements early in design and development processes.
- Conduct accessibility reviews and validation during design and implementation phases.
- Provide guidance to designers, developers, and content teams on accessible design practices.
- Support accessibility testing and documentation for digital platforms and content.
- Identify accessibility risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with UX, experience, platform, and development teams.
- Support development of accessibility standards, guidelines, and reusable patterns.
- Assist with accessibility reporting, compliance documentation, and reviews.
- Support continuous improvement of accessibility and inclusive design practices.
Qualifications
Clearance Requirement Candidate must possess a Tier 2 Moderate Risk Public Trust from any federal agency. Education (Required) Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Digital Arts, or a related field. Experience (Required)
- Minimum of 5 years of experience supporting accessibility and inclusive design initiatives.
- Experience applying Section 508 and WCAG standards to digital experiences.
- Experience integrating accessibility early in design and development workflows.
- Experience supporting federal or public-sector digital platforms preferred.
Technical Knowledge Required:
- Expertise in Section 508 and WCAG accessibility standards.
- Knowledge of inclusive and accessible design methodologies.
- Ability to evaluate designs, interfaces, and content for accessibility.
- Strong documentation and guidance development skills.
Preferred:
- Experience with accessibility testing tools.
- Familiarity with UX, design systems, and digital platforms.
- Experience working in Agile or iterative delivery environments.
Certifications Required:
- Section 508 or WCAG certification
Preferred:
- Additional certifications in accessibility or inclusive design
Skills
