Job DescriptionReporting to the OIT Lead Engineer, the Enterprise System Administrator performs statewide activities associated with virtual, physical, and converged server hardware and software systems. This role is responsible for implementing and maintaining enterprise server infrastructure, supporting system automation, managing user access, and ensuring compliance with backup and disaster recovery protocols. The position supports key personnel across the college system to ensure end-user needs are met through reliable, secure, and well-maintained infrastructure.

The Target Hiring Range for the position is $ 57,542 - $63,269

The final salary offer will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications and experience. Essential Functions

The employee will demonstrate TSTC's Core Values of Excellence, Accountability, Service, and Integrity with internal and external stakeholders, customers, students, and community members.

Infrastructure Operations
Assist in planning, design, and maintenance of IT computing infrastructure, including server OS updates, patch management, and asset tracking.

Monitor and optimize system performance to ensure efficient operations.

System Monitoring and Backup
Monitor nightly processes and system performance.

Implement and maintain file systems, backups, and disaster recovery protocols to ensure data protection and business continuity.

Automation and Scripting
Create and manage system automation using PowerShell, Python, and Linux shell scripts.

Leverage infrastructure as code tools to improve system efficiency and reduce manual workload.

Access Management and Security
Manage elevated user access, Active Directory, and Identity and Access Management (IAM) systems.

Collaborate with application teams to automate user provisioning and develop system integration workflows.

Technical Support and Coordination
Serve as escalation support for issues related to server infrastructure.

Collaborate with vendors, network specialists, and field support teams to resolve technical issues.

Support the Enterprise Application Administrators on infrastructure-related problems.

Education, Experience, & Skills

Required Qualifications

1-5 years of experience in a higher education or enterprise setting managing Windows and Linux servers, virtualization platforms, and backup systems.

Experience with scripting (PowerShell, Python, Linux shell).

Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with identity management systems and public cloud platforms.

Experience with relational database administration.

Familiarity with infrastructure automation tools.

Security and Integrity Requirement

As a condition of employment and continued service in this position, which involves access to or work on critical infrastructure as defined in Section 117.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code, the employee must demonstrate the ability to maintain the security and integrity of that infrastructure. This includes undergoing routine reviews to assess eligibility based on factors such as criminal history or any ongoing connections to the government or political apparatus of a foreign adversary, as designated under 15 C.F.R. * 791.4. Employment in this role is contingent upon meeting these security-related qualifications and remaining in compliance with them throughout the duration of employment.

The foreign adversary list as of July 24, 2025, includes (1) The People's Republic of China, including the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the Macau Special Administrative Region (China), (2) Republic of Cuba (Cuba), (3) Islamic Republic of Iran (Iran), (4) Democratic People's Republic of Korea (North Korea), (5) Russian Federation (Russia), and (6) Venezuelan politician Nicolas Maduro (Maduro Regime).
