DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This role carries significant responsibility within the Senior Center Program, where the individual serves as an assistant to the Director of a versatile Senior Center, which may act as a central hub for community activities. The Assistant Director collaborates closely with the Director to advance the objectives of the center while also possessing the authority to oversee and manage the center independently in the Director's absence.
The essential duties of this position include planning and leading a variety of arts and crafts classes, as well as organizing and executing special programs and activities such as events, parties, and trips. The Assistant Director is tasked with securing knowledgeable speakers for the center's programs covering topics like life skills, education, nutrition, tax preparation, and health issues. Additionally, the role involves escorting groups of seniors on outings, ensuring that travel and meal arrangements are properly coordinated. It is crucial to prioritize the well-being of participants during these trips, providing assistance in any unexpected situations that may arise. Furthermore, the Assistant Director is responsible for coordinating nutrition programs and activities in alignment with the center's operations, as well as managing the completion of membership and attendance forms for the center, whether for general participation or specific activities. Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Three months of experience in providing direct services in a human services, education or a community based setting to the aging population or to individuals from various cultures and socio-economic backgrounds or to individuals who have physical, intellectual or emotional disabilities; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
Other Requirements:

- Hiring preference for this vacancy may be given to candidates who live within Luzerne or Wyoming counties. If no eligible candidates who live within Luzerne or Wyoming counties apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
