The preferred location for this position is the Crawfordville, FL office. However, the manager may consider other North Florida Duke Energy office locations.

Depending upon the desired qualifications of the successful applicant, the hiring manager may elect to fill this position at a higher level within the job hierarchy.

Job Summary

This is the third level (Senior is the fourth level) of the non-Engineer degreed technical support role job classification. Engineering Technologist III provide technical expertise to solve more complex problems and leadership skills to provide oversight and direction of work in a specific area of expertise, with limited supervision. Incumbents are expected to develop advanced skills and the ability to work with a high degree of independence.

Responsibilities

  • Build strong customer connections. Communicates directly and frequently with builder/developer contacts to apprize project plans and status.

  • Adjust plans quickly and effectively to uphold standards while supporting project goals and objectives.

  • Provides deep technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis and resolution of problems in area of expertise.

  • Ensures accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling and monitoring of work activities.

  • Independently prepares thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations and sketches.

  • Conducts engineering and related studies.

  • Strives to continually improve job-related, technical and professional knowledge, skills and performance.

  • Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities. Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills. Maintains accurate records and files.

  • Supports the company's goals and represents the company positively and professionally.

  • Shares observations to collaborate with other Engineering Technologists and Engineers.

Required Qualifications
Note: This posting is for one open position. Dependent on relative experience, the level to which a candidate is aligned is outlined below.

Engineering Technologist III

  • Bachelor's of Science degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology AND two (2)+ years minimum of related experience, OR

  • Associate's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology AND four (4)+ years minimum of related experience, OR

  • In lieu of degrees and experience listed above, high school diploma/GED AND six (6) years minimum of related experience

SR Engineering Technologist

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Engineering Technology AND four (4)+ years minimum relevant industry, OR

  • Associate Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology AND six (6)+ years minimum relevant experience, OR

  • In lieu of degree and experience listed above, High School/GED AND eight (8)+ years equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology

  • Good written and oral communication skills

  • Experience in the utility industry

  • Able to effectively apply basic principles of project management

Mobility Classification

  • Hybrid Mobility Classification - Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees should live within a reasonable daily commute to a Duke Energy facility

  • 3 days in office; flexible
