THE POSITION

The Department of Transportation, District 5 is currently looking to fill an internship position as part of the STAMPP program. In this role, you will have the opportunity to engage in hands-on work by conducting field surveys aimed at evaluating the conditions of road shoulders and guide rails. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a participant in the STAMPP program, you will be tasked with performing field surveys to evaluate the conditions of roadway shoulders and guide rails. It is crucial to ensure that the collected data is accurately updated. These assessments will take place while you are operating a state vehicle, specifically driving along the shoulder of the road. You will collaborate in pairs to efficiently complete the surveys, with the objective of covering approximately half of the District's roadway network during the months of May through August. To maintain a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues, adherence to established safety protocols and the use of appropriate equipment is imperative.

This internship opportunity is specifically for Engineering District 5, which encompasses Berks, Carbon, Lehigh, Monroe, Northampton, and Schuylkill Counties.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time internship that will run from May 2026 through August 2026
  • Work hours will vary based on position
  • Travel may be required

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Internship Requirements:

  • Must be currently enrolled or intending to enroll full-time or part-time in a two-year degree, bachelor's degree, or advanced degree program.
  • Must be a Pennsylvania resident or currently enrolled at a Pennsylvania college or university.
  • In good academic standing (as defined by a GPA of 2.0 or higher)
  • Must be at least 18 years of age

Additional Requirements:
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
