SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Director or Manager, Epidemiology and Infection Prevention for Brown University Health, and the Medical Director, Epidemiology and Infection Control, is responsible for supporting the Epidemiology and Infection Prevention team with administrative, surveillance, reporting, investigation of hospital associated infections(HAIs) and contact tracing using advanced surveillance techniques.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Aides in investigation and contact tracing of infection in conjunction with the department.
Reviews and reports reportable diseases stipulated by the RI Department of Health.
Utilizes local area computer network for the Epidemiology and Infection Control Department. Participates in the development or updating of computer programs to enhance the productivity of the Epidemiology and Infection Control Department.
Supports department communication and education/training needs as guided by IP manager/director.
Performs surveillance activities as designated on an assigned basis.
Supports the Epidemiology and Infection Control Department for administrative functions (i.e. meeting minutes) as assigned.
Performs other related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's Degree in a healthcare related field or public health is preferred.
Incumbent must acquire an Associate- Infection Prevention and Control (a-IPC) certification within 3 years of hire.
EXPERIENCE:
One year of experience in healthcare or public health.
Preferred incumbent will have three years' experience in hospital epidemiologynfection control or public health.
Demonstrated knowledge of the care provided in the tertiary, acute-care hospital to patients throughout the continuum of life with consideration of aging processes, human development stages and cultural patterns in each step of the care process.
Demonstrated skills with personal computers and software to include database management, spreadsheets, word processing and graphics applications.
Demonstrated skill with both verbal and written communication.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work is performed in a typical office setting, requiring extensive periods of sitting, with arms extended as well as walking and standing.
INDEPENDENT ACTION:
Incumbent generally establishes own work plans and priorities, including the development and utilization of appropriate analytic strategies, methodologies, and activities to assure accurate, valid, and timely completion of work in conformance with organizational and department policies and practices. Refers specific, complex problems to the Manager/Director where clarification of departmental policies and procedures may be required.

Pay Range:

$66,397.24-$109,529.06
