Intern -Trading Analyst

We are looking for motivated, dynamic, personable, and professional interns for our summer program to join our team!

The main objective for each intern is to become familiar with the crude oil pipeline, terminal and gathering assets in our energy portfolio, gaining experience in the Commercial, Marketing and Trading, and Business Development areas throughout the US and including export projects and opportunities.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Support ad-hoc research and market analysis projects under the direction of traders and commercial analysts to help inform trading and marketing decisions.
  • Assist in building and refining tools (Excel, Python, VBA, or other platforms) that improve efficiency, automate workflows, and enhance visibility into market and trading data.
  • Collaborate across teams - including Trading, Risk, Operations, Accounting, and Scheduling - to observe and support how commercial activities translate into physical and financial outcomes.
  • Work alongside traders to provide timely analytical support, contribute to pricing models, and participate in discussions around trade ideas and market opportunities.
  • Gain exposure to ETRM systems and assist in verifying trade entry, pricing accuracy, and reconciliation processes as part of daily risk and position management.
  • Learning Outcomes:

  • Develop a hands-on understanding of physical and financial crude oil markets (or applicable commodity).
  • Build practical skills in market analysis, commercial problem-solving, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Learn how commercial trading desks coordinate with other parts of the organization to manage risk and execute strategy.

Required Education, Skills & Abilities:

Excellent interpersonal, analytical, communication, and computer related skills (MS Word, Excel & Power Point)

To perform this job successfully, individuals must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements include:

  • Enrolled in an undergraduate degree program. Preferably junior status as of Fall
  • General requirements include self-motivated individuals with a desire to learn and contribute to the energy sector
  • The selections of disciplines include Engineering & Finance
  • Above average GPA 3.0
