Hours & Pay



  • Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM
  • Pay Rate: $140,000 annually
  • Employment Type: Temporary assignment



About the Role

The Director of Human Resources provides strategic and operational leadership across all areas of HR, including employee relations, recruitment and selection, compensation and benefits, HRIS, payroll administration, organizational development, training, safety, and regulatory compliance. This role oversees the HR team and payroll function while ensuring policies, programs, and practices align with organizational goals and legal requirements.

What You'll Do



  • Lead the development, implementation, and administration of comprehensive HR programs and policies
  • Serve as a key member of the management team, advising leadership on personnel, safety, and administrative matters
  • Oversee recruitment, selection, classification, and job description processes for staff and student employees
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and agency employment laws, including equal opportunity and affirmative action requirements
  • Manage employee relations matters, including investigations, performance issues, and conflict resolution
  • Direct the payroll function, ensuring accuracy, compliance, reporting, and coordination with ADP
  • Administer and oversee benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, retirement, EAP, and leave programs
  • Lead compensation strategy, job audits, salary benchmarking, and annual budget projections for wages and benefits
  • Maintain and enhance HRIS systems, ensuring data integrity, reporting accuracy, and system upgrades
  • Oversee safety programs, workers' compensation, and compliance with CAL-OSHA and related regulations
  • Drive organizational development initiatives, staff training, professional development, and orientation programs
  • Represent the organization to external agencies and regulatory bodies as needed
  • Lead special projects and reports as assigned by executive leadership



What You'll Bring



  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, or a related field (Master's degree preferred)
  • Seven (7) years of progressively responsible professional experience, including at least five (5) years in HR management preferred (3 years required)
  • Proven experience across compensation, benefits, employee relations, recruitment, training, safety, and payroll administration
  • Experience managing payroll systems; ADP experience strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of employment law, HR compliance, and regulatory requirements
  • Proficiency with HRIS platforms, reporting tools, and Microsoft Office
  • Excellent leadership, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to conduct investigations, lead training, and develop clear policies and reports
  • Experience within public, nonprofit, or educational environments preferred
