Description

Under the direction of the Assistant Director, serve as a Safety Specialist for the UCLA Health Office of Environmental Health & Safety Ambulatory Division. Responsibilities include assisting in implementing and providing support for Environmental Health & Safety programs, including Injury Prevention and Ergonomics support throughout the UCLA Health Ambulatory clinic locations. Conduct injury investigations, ergonomic evaluations and other employee risk reduction functions. Assist in the development of measures to ensure a safe, healthy and secure environment for staff, patients and visitors.

Qualifications
  • 1. Experience or knowledge of working with injury prevention and occupational safety, ergonomics, hazardous materials and other EHS Programs
  • 2. Bachelor's Degree in Health and Safety, Engineering, Public Health, or similar relevant fields and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3. Knowledge of hospital operations operate safely and in compliance with all laws, regulations, accreditation standards, policies, and procedures.
  • 4. Skill in preparing concise, logical and grammatically correct memos, policies, reports and other documents.
  • 5. Skill in reading, understanding and interpreting National and State laws and Hospital Safety codes.
  • 6. Knowledge of Medical Center Safety policies and procedures.
  • 7. Ability to coordinate, conduct and lead training and education sessions
  • 8. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with other staff members, managers, administration and external persons and regulatory agencies
  • 9. Ability to make effective presentations to convey information on safety policies, procedures and issues.
  • 10. General knowledge of Joint Commission standards.
