The Manager of Security Architecture & Physical Security Architecture provides strategic and operational leadership for all aspects of DataBank's security architecture, encompassing both cybersecurity and physical security functions across more than 70 data centers and corporate facilities. This role ensures that the organization's technology, infrastructure, and environments are designed, implemented, and maintained to meet DataBank's high standards for confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

As a leader within Security Solutions, the Manager oversees primarily the Security Architecture organization, responsible for secure design physical and logical, control integration, and technology governance; and the design of Physical Security, responsible for facility protection, system architecture, and the enterprise guard force program. The individual assists in managing a combined $6M annual budget, leads both technical and operational staff, and drives alignment between risk management, compliance, and business enablement.

Key Responsibilities:

Major duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide strategic direction and leadership for all cybersecurity and physical security architecture programs across DataBank's corporate, colocation, and managed-services environments.
  • Lead respective teams, promoting collaboration, accountability, and professional growth.
  • Define and execute a multi-year security architecture roadmap, supporting the organization's regulatory obligations and operational maturity goals.
  • Oversee enterprise security design standards, ensuring secure-by-design implementation across new technologies, platforms, and facilities.
  • Direct physical security architecture for new construction, retrofit projects, and facility expansions, partnering with Facilities Design & Construction, Engineering, and IT to ensure integrated, compliant solutions.
  • Lead DataBank's Security Officer Program, including vendor performance, training, scheduling, post-order development, and budget reconciliation.
  • Develop and administer departmental budgets, forecasts, and capital plans totaling approximately $11 million annually, balancing strategic investment with operational efficiency.
  • Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure control effectiveness, system availability, incident response performance, and program maturity.
  • Oversee deployment, governance, and lifecycle management of enterprise security technologies including CrowdStrike, Tenable, LogScale, Forescout, Palo Alto, and Lenel/CCure/Exacq/BioConnect.
  • Partner with Compliance and Operations to ensure adherence to regulatory frameworks such as FedRAMP, PCI DSS, ISO 27001, and NIST 800-53.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for major incidents or design decisions affecting either cyber or physical security systems.
  • Collaborate with IT, Product, and Facilities leadership to align security controls with business strategy, risk tolerance, and customer commitments.
  • Represent the Security Architecture & Physical Security function during executive reviews, customer audits, and board-level briefings.
  • Drive innovation through continuous improvement, emerging-technology evaluation, and cross-disciplinary integration of cyber-physical controls.

Required skills / Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated success leading multi-disciplinary security teams within a large or distributed enterprise environment.
  • Strategic leadership capability with a proven ability to develop long-term roadmaps, budgets, and measurable objectives.
  • Deep understanding of security architecture principles across both IT and facility domains.
  • Expertise in physical security platforms (Lenel, CCure, Exacq, BioConnect, Genetec) and cybersecurity technologies (CrowdStrike, Tenable, Forescout, Palo Alto).
  • Strong business acumen with experience managing multi-million-dollar budgets and vendor contracts.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills; capable of influencing executives, technical staff, and customers.
  • Familiarity with data center operations, network design, and secure infrastructure management.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of compliance frameworks including FedRAMP, PCI DSS, ISO 27001, and NIST 800-53.
  • Analytical and results-oriented, with the ability to convert strategic goals into actionable plans and measurable outcomes.
  • 10+ years of experience in cybersecurity, physical security, or related technical leadership roles, including at least 5 years in management or program leadership.
  • Proven track record designing, implementing, and governing enterprise-level security programs and architectures.
  • Experience managing large cross-functional initiatives or multi-site operations.
  • Professional certifications preferred: CISSP, CISM, or PMP, as well as vendor-specific design credentials.
  • Strong leadership presence with a demonstrated ability to lead through others and develop future leaders.
  • U.S. Citizenship required; must successfully pass comprehensive background and security investigations.
