Build It Right the First Time - Assembly Technician

At GE Transportation, Wabtec, we design, build, and support advanced equipment that powers rail, transit, and industrial operations around the world. We are seeking a skilled and dependable Assembly Technician to join our manufacturing team. In this hands-on role, you'll assemble, test, troubleshoot, and refine components that meet exacting engineering standards-working alongside a collaborative team in a modern industrial environment.

Hours & Pay



  • Schedule: 1st Shift | Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
  • Pay Rate: Starting at $18.50+ per hour (based on experience, skills, and qualifications)

Daily Tasks



  • Assemble, test, and inspect products according to engineering drawings and test specifications
  • Disassemble, troubleshoot, repair, and reassemble equipment that does not pass testing
  • Work with electrical and mechanical components in an industrial manufacturing setting
  • Maintain assembly and test equipment to ensure consistent performance
  • Assist with daily 5S activities and general housekeeping
  • Support teammates by helping resolve quality or production issues
  • Move materials to and from workstations using carts, cranes, or by hand
  • Follow all safety rules, procedures, and quality standards
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support production goals



Requirements



  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1+ year of assembly experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Ability to safely and effectively use tools and equipment required for assembly operations
  • Strong listening, communication, and teamwork skills
  • Reliable, detail-oriented, and safety-focused
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Ability to pass required pre-employment screenings, including drug and fitness-for-duty testing



Work Environment & Physical Requirements



  • Indoor manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery, assembly operations, overhead cranes, and forklift traffic
  • Frequent standing, walking, reaching, and use of hands for tools and controls
  • Occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling
  • Ability to lift and move up to 30 pounds regularly
  • Use of required personal protective equipment at all times
