Job Title: Substitute Teacher Duration: 3 months Location: Cranston RI 02920 Payrate: $17.00/hr. on w2 Shift Timing (Day/ Evening/ Night).- Day 35 Hr /week Job Description: The role of the Substitute Teacher is to supervise the classroom and teach the lesson left by an absent teacher. The Substitute Teacher is responsible for the well-being and safety of the students, taking attendance, maintaining a functioning classroom, utilizing classroom management skills, and teaching the provided curriculum. In the absence of the teacher on a long-term basis, the substitute teacher is expected to execute all duties of the teacher relevant to training including but not limited to: instructional delivery, assessment, grading, and collaboration with teacher colleagues. Roles and Responsibilities: The role of the Substitute Teacher is to supervise the classroom and teach the lesson left by an absent teacher. The Substitute Teacher is responsible for the well-being and safety of the students, taking attendance, maintaining a functioning classroom, utilizing classroom management skills, and teaching the provided curriculum. The Substitute Teacher reports to the School Principal. Takes attendance in accordance with school procedures Supervise classroom of absent teacher Teach provided lesson plan Maintain a functioning classroom Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and objectives as indicated in the lesson plans for the lessons, units, or projects assigned. Employs instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting lesson objectives Maintains a neat and orderly classroom. Straightens chairs, tables, clears white board, etc. Performs other related duties as directed by The School Principal. Required Education: Bachelor's degree in science education or another related field. Required Certification: Current RIDE certification in science education.
