The Thomas Harriot College of Arts and Sciences (

The Department of Psychology (
http://psychology.ecu.edu) has 32 full-time faculty members, over 800 undergraduate majors, a master's program with several concentrations as well as a Specialist-level program in School Psychology. The Department also has a doctoral program in Health Psychology with three separate concentrations: Clinical Health Psychology, Pediatric School Psychology, and Occupational Health Psychology. Both the Clinical Health Psychology and Pediatric School Psychology concentrations are accredited by the American Psychological Association. The Health Psychology program is a current and past recipient of a Health Resources and Services Administration (
HRSA) Graduate Psychology Education training grant. The Department is also experiencing an unprecedented level of investment from the State of North Carolina in its clinical health psychology and pediatric school psychology doctoral programs and the psychology department clinic associated with these programs (
https://psychology.ecu.edu/pass/). Faculty routinely collaborate with colleagues throughout the schools and colleges of
ECU and have established connections with ECU's School of Dental Medicine, College of Education, and various departments in Brody School of Medicine and
ECU Health, including Pediatrics, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Psychiatry, and Cardiology. |
| Job Duties |
The Department of Psychology invites applications for a Fixed Term, Clinical Assistant Professor beginning August 2026. This 9-month, non-tenure track position is a high priority for the department and involves participating in our Health Psychology PhD program, which includes
APA-accredited clinical health psychology and pediatric school psychology training programs. The Department of Psychology operates a departmental training clinic (
https://psychology.ecu.edu/pass/) that provides clinical services to students, faculty, and community residents. The successful applicant will participate in the supervision of clinical assessment services of practicum students in the clinic and will contribute to the clinical training of doctoral students, particularly in the clinical health concentration, and to the didactic mission of the department. The responsibilities of this position include supervision of comprehensive evaluations of primarily adult patients presenting to the Psychology Clinic and teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in psychology. Administrative responsibilities in the clinic may also be included. Opportunities exist for clinical research collaborations within our Health Psychology program and with other departments, including those at the
ECU Brody School of Medicine.

| Minimum Education/Experience |
A PhD or equivalent in clinical, counseling, or school psychology, with expertise with adult psychological assessment is required. Qualifying degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions and degree programs must be
APA-accredited. Applicants must hold a doctoral-level license in psychology or be Licensed Psychologist-eligible in NC. |
