Summary


Redwire Space Missions LLC, has a current opportunity for an Aerospace Engineer (willing to consider all Sr. Levels). You will be supporting our government customer on site at their facility in Dahlgren, VA with occasional travel to Redwire facilities. In this role you will provide subject matter expertise in spacecraft design, mission CONOPS, industry common practices, and modeling, testing, and analysis. There you will act as a liaison for the company working alongside other Redwire employees and the customer, be the primary Aerospace background expertise, and support the use of our high-fidelity modeling and simulation software, Acorn, in its application to solving complex and challenging problems.


Responsibilities


  • Interfacing directly with customers to interpret and define needs, plan approaches and techniques to solve problems, provide technical support, and support program management needs while on-site
  • Subject matter expertise in Aerospace engineer related to: spacecraft design, industry common practices, design reference missions, Keplerian dynamics, and modeling and simulation approaches
  • Lead technical teams through defining and controlling component, subsystem, and spacecraft interfaces; manage and interpret Interface Control Documents and communication between cross-functional areas
  • Perform various analyses to evaluate and characterize total system of systems and/or system architectures
  • Support design/development of test tooling (simulation, models, report/analysis tools, EGSE) for both Software and Hardware testing
  • Write technical policies, procedures, and documentation


Ideal Experience


  • Bachelors, Masters or Ph.D. degree in Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field
  • Five or more years of engineering experience in the space industry
  • Experience with space systems engineering life cycle; including an understanding of space vehicle design, architecture development, space vehicle integration and test, and space operations development
  • Experience interfacing directly with customer and leading technical discussions
  • Occasional travel required to other Redwire locations
  • Active Top Secret DOD Security Clearance required (SCI Eligibility preferred)

  • Knowledge of aerospace engineering principles
  • Experience with flight software development and working with flight hardware
  • Ability to provide in-depth evaluation and analysis of unique complex technological issues.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with Orbit Mechanics, Keplerian Physics, and Attitude Determination and Control
  • Experience with Software Development (C/C++, Python)
  • Experience with Spacecraft Modeling & Simulation tools (ACORN, Ansys STK)
  • Experience with MBSE (Model-Based Systems Engineering)
