ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
  • Position: Material Resource Operator - Materials (Night Shift)
  • Schedule: Monday - Friday, 11:00 PM - 7:30 AM
  • Hourly Wage: $30.05 per hour

ROLE SUMMARY

The Material Handling Team Lead is responsible for overseeing and coordinating daily warehouse operations related to the movement, storage, and handling of materials, finished goods, and inbound/outbound shipments. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the efficient flow of materials, adherence to safety and quality standards, and compliance with FIFO principles.

The Team Lead guides and mentors material handlers, monitors team performance, ensures compliance with operational standards, and identifies opportunities for continuous improvement to support production and distribution goals. Additionally, this position ensures the accuracy of documentation, inventory management, and safe use of material handling equipment while maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (*denotes essential job functions)
  • Lead, coach, and coordinate material handlers in daily operations.
  • Delegate responsibilities and monitor team performance to achieve goals.
  • Conduct team meetings to communicate expectations, provide feedback, and share updates.
  • Oversee identification and tracking of inbound shipments and yard trailers.
  • Ensure timely verification and confirmation of storage locations before unloading.
  • Lead the team in performing inbound standard procedure checklists prior to unloading.
  • Ensure safe and efficient operation of forklifts and material handling equipment.
  • Direct unloading, staging, and storage activities, ensuring FIFO adherence.
  • Review and escalate non-conformance issues with thorough documentation and evidence.
  • Maintain compliance with safety protocols, including PPE and Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO) procedures.
  • Conduct and oversee inventory tasks such as cycle counts and physical audits.
  • Collaborate with supervisors to resolve challenges.
  • Identify non-moving materials or quality-related issues and recommend solutions.
  • Oversee accurate documentation for lot codes, material transfers, and shipment tracking.
  • Manage team usage of RF scanners, WMS, and inventory management tools.
  • Ensure compliance with 6S standards for cleanliness and organization in receiving and staging areas.
  • Conduct regular yard audits and participate in safety training sessions.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
  • Drive adherence to packaging and unitization specifications for outbound products.
  • Support Return to Stock (RTS) transactions and scrap inventory processing.
  • Ensure accurate preparation and delivery of raw materials to production areas.
  • Monitor outgoing pallets for accuracy in SKUs and quantities against Bills of Lading.
  • Verify the accuracy of outgoing pallets, ensuring correct SKUs and quantities align with Bills of Lading.
  • Stack pallets appropriately to allow consignees to conduct accurate product counts upon receipt.
  • Ensure that products are unitized according to Church & Dwight (CHD) packaging specifications.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
PREFERRED EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • A minimum of 1 year case-picking experience within a distribution center or warehousing material handling in a manufacturing environment.
  • At least one year of prior experience operating powered industrial trucks and material handling equipment.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment with demonstrated application of fundamental industrial skills, including spatial and temporal awareness, mechanical aptitude, and process comprehension.

COMPETENCIES & SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
  • Proven leadership experience in warehouse operations or logistics.
  • Strong knowledge of FIFO inventory systems, inbound logistics, and material handling.
  • Proficiency in Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), RF scanners, and inventory tools.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for building positive relationships.
  • Ability to coach, motivate, and lead teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices, including forklift operation.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills for addressing operational challenges.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to support various operational needs.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently.
MAJOR PHYSICAL TASKS
  • Lifting (Floor to Waist to Shoulder): Cases of various product up to chest level, dumping cases of empty bottles into hopper for line, moving and lifting pallets.
  • Lift and Carry: Case of empty bottles, case of product (two 300 oz. bottles of soap), broom, mop.
  • Stepping/Climbing: Up and down stairs over line.
  • Pulling: Bundles 5 to 10 feet up to 25 times per day (35 lbs).
  • Breaking Down Boxes: Handling corrugate.
