Description
UCLA Health is seeking an experienced Cash Operations Manager to lead operations within our Patient Billing Office and Cash Operations, with a focus on cash operations, account resolution, and patient billing. Reporting to the PBO Director, you will oversee day-to-day functions for assigned billing and cash units, manage supervisors and staff, and ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely resolution of patient accounts.
In this leadership role, you will guide operational workflows, support continuous process improvement, and serve as a key resource for PBO Supervisors, Physician Support Services, and internal stakeholders. You will also provide training, monitor team performance, and handle escalations involving payers, contracting, and other departments.
This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned revenue cycle leader with deep expertise in patient billing, collections, and cash operations to help advance UCLA Health's financial integrity and patient experience.
Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily operations for patient billing, collections, and cash operations, ensuring timely and accurate account resolution
  • Supervise and support PBO Supervisors and staff, including workload management, training, coaching, and performance evaluations
  • Review and approve adjustments, corrections, refunds, and cash posting activities while ensuring compliance with policies and regulations
  • Analyze patient account data to identify trends, resolve errors, and recommend process improvements
  • Prepare operational and performance reports to support leadership decision-making
  • Manage relationships with payers, contracting teams, and collection agencies, escalating issues as needed
  • Ensure unit compliance with federal/state regulations, payer policies, and institutional requirements
  • Lead team meetings, communicate workflow changes, and promote a culture of accountability, professionalism, and customer service
Salary Range: $ 95,400 - $208,300/Annually
Qualifications
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 8 years or more of related experience or training in patient billing, accounts receivable, or collections operations, including supervisory or management experience.
  • Minimum 8 years or more of cash posting, credit analysis and resolution, remittance processing, or related field
  • Demonstrates strong knowledge of medical billing, collections, and reimbursement principles, including Medicare, Medi-Cal, HMO, PPO, and managed care billing.
  • Maintain contact with internal and external customers and vendors
  • Utilizes advanced analytical skills to evaluate billing trends and financial outcomes.
  • Demonstrates proficiency with billing and claims systems (e.g., SMS or Epic) and performance metrics reporting tool
  • Exhibits ability to develop and manage operational policies and procedures.
  • Possesses strong written and verbal communication skills with diverse audiences, including physicians, patients, and payers.
  • Demonstrates ability to manage staff performance through coaching, feedback, and formal evaluation.
  • Applies sound judgment and decision-making in complex operational or financial situations.
  • Demonstrates strong leadership, organizational, and time management skills to manage competing priorities.
  • Maintains detailed knowledge of payer regulations and institutional billing compliance requirements.
  • Demonstrates proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and multiple other software programs.
  • Exhibits strong interpersonal skills to foster collaboration and resolve conflicts effectively.
  • Maintains confidentiality and tact when handling sensitive or patient-related information.
