Title: Contract and Vendor Manager

$70,000 - $85,000 / Posted Thru: 12/21/2025



Location: Remote/Virtual - Some In-Person Work Required

Must Live and Work in Michigan



Purpose: The Portfolio Manager is responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of vendor and partner agreements that support the Business Solutions Group's clients and operations. The Portfolio Manager plays a critical role in overseeing a portfolio business and is responsible for building new business for the program. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, collaborative, and fluent in healthcare and nonprofit standards, with a strong ability to solve problems and take initiative while balancing risk management with mission-driven execution.



Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Partner with the Program Director to guide the development of program goals, objectives, and strategies.
  • Contract Lifecycle Management: Draft, create competitive and noncompetitive request for proposals, review, negotiate, and finalize contracts, statement of work (SOW), Business Associate Agreements (BAA), grant sub-awards, data use agreement (DUA), and service agreements. Maintain a centralized contract repository and track milestones, forecast expenses and lapses, monitor budget and manage amendments and produce desired outcomes.
  • Subcontractor Relationship Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for subcontractors; facilitate issue resolution, monitor performance, and provide management that create desired outcomes.
  • Project Management: Develop project plans and timelines for contract implementation; monitor progress, risks, and dependencies, and budget.
  • Prepare client informed SOWs and manage BAAs ensuring compliance with client needs, MPHI needs, privacy and HIPAA requirements.
  • Provide a thorough understanding of federal and state funding requirements.
  • Financial Stewardship & Invoicing: Validate invoices against contract terms, work with subcontractors on issues, process invoices for payment, track and forecast budgets, and support monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting.
  • Quarterly Reports & Compliance Tracking: Prepare quarterly vendor and contract performance reports; identifying and maintaining compliance documents and support audits.
  • Risk Management & Policy Alignment: Identify and mitigate risks; ensure subcontracts conform to Program and MPHI policies and applicable laws.
  • Manage and review documentation for compliance, ensure version control, and support auditing and monitoring.
  • Coordinate with Legal/Compliance to algin agreements with policy, privacy and legal standards.
  • Create new business by identifying, assessing, and pursuing new business opportunities that align with BSG goals and objectives.
  • Create and conduct presentations as needed to audiences that may include clients, external and internal partners, conference attendees, public health professionals, business associates, and other audiences as assigned.
  • Facilitate meetings
  • Identify opportunities for collaboration across MPHI.
  • Build strong relationships with current clients and partners and identify other potential areas of partnership and project growth.
  • Always represent the best interests of MPHI
  • All other duties as assigned.



Qualifications/Requirements:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or a related field.

Experience: 3-5 years' experience in portfolio administration, procurement, subcontractor management, grants/contracts, or project compliance.

Important Skills and Characteristics:



  • Experience drafting/negotiating SOWs, BAAs, and managing amendments and renewals.
  • Familiarity with IRB processes and compliance requirements.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA compliance requirements
  • Strong project management skills
  • Proven record of business development
  • Experience interpreting and operationalizing contract terms and SOWs.
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Excellent organization, documentation, and stakeholder communication skills.
  • Familiarity with procurement, braided funding, and grant funding.
  • Project Management Certification is strongly preferred.



Work Environment and Physical Requirements: Job may require moderate physical effort including lifting materials and equipment of less than 25 pounds and involves viewing a monitor screen 75% of the time. Standard office environment with flexibility for remote working.
